I've heard a few different things and wanted to get your opinions. I'm wondering if it is ok to break in an engine with an aftermarket pipe or should I wait until after the break in? Usually I do not have to make this decision because I wait to replace the pipe after I am already dissapointed with the performance. In this case after taking advise from you guys I decided that I want to change the pipe without wasting anytime with my stock one on my new savage xl. What do you guys think? It shouldn't matter should it?

It will be fine. Just be sure to watch the temps.

For example, the Hpi polished pipe has a larger stinger than the stock so it will cause the pipe to push less back pressure to the tank, therefore leaning out the motor.

Just as gnarkill suggests. Factory settings are usually overly rich anyway, so you should be fine with stock settings. I've broken in with stock pipes and non-stock with various engines. I think I've only gotten a few vehicles with engines... so the engines weren't even stock, let alone the pipe. :)

Thanks guy I appreciate the help. I'm putting a cen 7.7 on the k5.9 in place of the stock polished hpi on my savy xl so I wont worry about it then and i'll keep an eye on the temps.:)

sorry that was supposed to say thanks guys:hehe:

I'll let you guys know how it goes for sure. I keep hearing bad things about the 5.9 so I figured i would try to make the best of it and run it into the ground before I buy a better engine since it did come with the truck and all. Do you think this pipe is ok for this engine? And also what engine would you recomend after this 5.9 bites the dust?
Thanks for all the help
