Right my mum bought me a GS Storm about a month back and i have put it up for xmas and when the guy i bought it off ran it to show us it was working there was LOADS of smoke bursting outta the pipe he says he has broke it in but i think different it doesn't run fast either, think i should re-break it in?

He may have had it way too rich. This is common during break-in. Do you notice liquid (raw fuel) spitting out of the exhaust as well? You may want to lean out the fuel mixture a little by turning the HSN clockwise a bit. BUT be sure that you dont go too far. There should always be a nice stream of smoke comming from the exhaust. If you turn the HSN too far and you no longer see smoke....this is bad...you will most likely run the engine too hot and may cause damage to the engine.

CLOCKWISE not counterclockwise to lean. counter clockwise will richen an engine
IMO,
Treat it as a new engine. Set it to the factory settings and run the brake-in sequence again. Its better to be safe than sorry. Run 4-5 tanks of fuel through it adjusting the carburetor 1/8th of a turn leaner (CLOCKWISE) after each tank full.
Once this has been done you may start to tune it for power.

used is always kind of tricky. you gotta kinda cross your fingers and hope nothing is wrong with it. i've had two used rc's and I've have problems both times.
it sounds like it's too rich. I would just reset the needles and re-tune it.
Following the break in would not hurt anything but it would take some time but you'd be 100% sure. If it looks very used, I wouldn't worry abou break-in. If it looks pretty much brand new, you may want to break it in just in case.

please don't take this wrong, but if you have any books or documentation on the car you really need to read it.
If you want to "lean" the need, turn it clockwise. This will reduce the amount of fuel in relation to the amount of air. If you want to "richen" or "fatten" the needle, turn it counter clockwise. This will add more fuel to the air / fuel mix.
Read that book! or we'll find you the online copy. it should have some info on it.

follow the instructions on break in as to how to operate the needles. but FYI here is something to help.

Thanks for all thats the site has cleared it up as so has the diagram from NitroAddict. I don't think the guy i bouhgt it off changed any of the factory settings but i'll just take it as it comes
