I ordered a Spektrum S612HV servo on Horizon to put on my Senton 3s and it arrived today so I decided to install it and test it out. When I was installing it, I tested it and was surprisingly slow. Anyone know if its supposed to be slow or did I get a faulty servo?

I can’t find the specs on that servo, it might just be slow. I put a Typhon 6s servo in my Typhon 3s and it works at a decent speed, faster than stock. The servo was under $20. I ordered mine from Jennysrc.com. For your servo, I’d say return it and get a different one.

First things first, there is likely a dual rate knob on your controller which controls the speed of the steering servo. Is it turned all the way up?

If so, it's hard to say since Spektrum RTR (ready to run) replacement servo specs are completely top secret, even to Spektrum customer service (I tried asking once) 🤔 Maybe it is just a slow ass servo? Maybe you got a dud 🤷‍♂️ Is it the same model servo you had originally?

My advice would be to get a refund, since the specs are obviously so sh!tty they are ashamed to share them with their customers. The pic shows all the "product details" LOL. Absolutely no info anywhere to be found on it.

Horizon will want to see a video of it rotating. So pull it from the car and remove everything attached to it. Press the servo horn back on (no screw) and make a video of it rotating while waiting for a response from customer service. Record the transmitter knobs as well to show you have everything set properly. They may want to see how much toilet paper you have left in your bathroom as well 😝

They usually respond within 24 hours. They will likely want to send you a replacement. I would argue for a refund, but accept a replacement if that is the only option. If they do offer a refund, never ever buy another Spektrum brand anything ever, ever, ever again 😉

Actually, some of their stuff is probably ok 🤷‍♂️ But you're better off buying cheap Amazon servos than Spektrum. Better brand names are Savox, Hitec, Tekin, Reedy, etc.

Some of their older stuff was pretty decent, but, anymore, it is hit or miss with them. Most of their servos are mediochre, which is why i stopped buying them, and the few RTR's i have bought from them that have them, i usually ditch the servo and replace it with a cheap one from eBay, since even the cheap Chinese ones are better. For an example of the hit or miss with spektrum, look up all the complaints of the STX2 radio, versus the not so many complaints for the DX2E.

Any RTR electronics are generally going to suck. Given that they list no specs anywhere on the internet that I can find Id assume its just slow af

I never bought any of their older stuff, but when I got into drones years ago, their transmitters were not spoken of in the drone groups with any sort of friendly reverance. In fact, I rarely saw any former Spektrum owner that didn't curse and rant when their name was mentioned. So I stayed away from them until just recently when I bought the Granite for my son. He has only driven it about 8 times, and so far the electronics have... you know what? I'm not even gonna say it. But crap... I thought about it. Better start looking for a servo at least.

Spektrum radios arent often spoken too fondly of by surfaces users either. I have a DX8 and its been a good radio for me but then again I've never done a whole lot on the Air side of the house either. I know Ill never own another high end surface radio by anyone other than Sanwa or Futaba though. Their surface radios are head and shoulders above Spektrum imo.

Hate to be the one to say that servo sucks it's not even on spectrum servo sheet.. it only has a 12kg rating..this is what I found

It might be a servo that’s best suited for a crawler.
