The Trinity pipe is obnoxious, IMO. I absolutely hated mine. Ran one race weekend with it and sold it as fast as I could. It wasn't so much that it was loud, I can handle loud pretty well being around jet engines all day, but the sound it made was just annoying as hell. If you do feel as though your shifting late and your pretty well broke in and tuned go ahead and bring your shift point down some. A good target to shoot for to start would be 20-25 feet.

I can relate to the exhaust sound being annoying, we had a Harley in the shop about a month ago that had some new exotic exhaust system on it and the exhaust note at a steady speed literally made me nautious.

I wouldent mind it being louder... but, I dont guess I want a pipe on there that will make the truck annoying to use. My neighbors can kiss it :-).

Quick Q... what could cause the truck to shut off for apparently no reason?? It has done that several times. Its not that I've slamed on the brakes real hard and ran the fuel out of the carb or anything, it will sometimes just shut off. At this point, it wont start back up imediately... but will 5 min later. This to me, suggests heat, b/c the head is always too warm to hold your finger on for very long. I fund it odd that it could be getting hot tho, when I am still running factory settings... its pretty rich still yet, I'm sure it could use to be leaned up.

Any ideas?

Running too lean. It's sounds like it's overheating. When these mills overheat it causes the fuel to boil before it gets to the carb and off she goes. Then the no start deal. Do you have a temp gun? Don't forget, temps and baro pressure will affect these motors so what's good one day isn't always good the next. Not sure where Logan is but if your weather is like ours it's probably pretty humid which means you'll have to fatten it up a bit.

Well.. I would say too lean as well, but she smokes pretty hard at WOT. :ponder2:

you might also not be quite hot enough. 2.5's run bad if they're not up to temp. over 220 or so on all the ones i've fooled with. if you're rich, you might just be TOO cool. might not be the case this time, but something to watch out for in the future anyway.

My Revo does this on first start up but soon quits after she gets warmed up a few mins. She also does this after around 15-20 mins of hard bashing and usualy means shes needs a small break. I'm guessing she gets over heated but I still haven't got anything to check temps with. I'll let her cool down a few minis and she's good to go again. Thats just been my experience with it so far. Anyone got any tips on a good cheap easy to use temp device, I'm all ears :)

Any of the small ones you can get for about $25-$30 are gonna get you by. I had one from tempgun.com that was pretty good til it grew legs and decided it didn't want to pit with me anymore. I have an Atomic and a Craftsman (it's the one made by Raytek) and the Atomic is good for a quick reference when you don't want to schlep the big one around, though it is off by about 20 degrees.

During Christmas last year I bought the Radio Shack one for 20.00 and it is within 3-5 degrees of the atomic weather station on my coach. I use it the most as it is the smallest. I also have the OFNA one that gets deeper in the head. Seems to read the plug temp better.

Well I finnaly got the Tmaxx screwed together but thats anotehr story. Anyways, I some how lost the body pins which was less than what I thought I would lose lol So I cruised over to my LHS and picked up some plus a Temp device from PR or something like that. Anyways, my Revo showd 120 degrees while the Tmaxx showd around 190 degrees. I'm guessing they need some tunning?

Thanks
Ray

Hey ray for the T-Maxx I know the normal operating temp is between 240 and 260 and for the revo i am sure it is the same

I'm guessing this means it's running fat and the extra fuel is cooling it down some?

This is starting to sound like real Nitro cars where they run the extra fuel to cool them down during a run :)

Yeah, way too cold! Running that cold of temps (too rich) will do just as much harm as running too lean. Normal should be 230-260 with the 2.5R. Up to 270 is probably ok with that mill too as long as you have a decent smoke trail. I'd watch if she goes more than that.

N/P man, that's why this site is here, to HELP! Fire away, I've had my Revo since they came out and several of my racing buds have them too. We've seen quite a bit!

Don't worry about it. If I remember correctly, you bought the rig used, but in good condition, right? If it was broken in porperly, running a little cool is not going to hurt you that much in the long run. Just make small changes in the HSN or LSN depending on how it is tuned now and seeif you can get the temps over 220, stabilize them closer to 240.
