my electric bill is 160.00 and i dont even have a hot tub, i dont run the a/c, have a gas water heater,and a gas stove ..go figure
 
Thanks for all the input guys. I am learning so much before I even get the tub. I will have to check to see what our local codes are. I am sure we have to have a permit to put this thing in. Around here you need a permit to get a permit!

Wow, I didn't know that so much could mess with the tub. I will make sure to shower before you get in, and make sure we have suits just for the tub. I am not sure I can convince my wife to do the no clothes in the hot tub deal.

Ed I will check online to see what the filters cost and order a few to have on hand here.

I am learning. We have a "Spa" class to go to here soon that is suposed to teach us everything we need to know. I think we will end up going with the bromine instead of chlorine too. Thanks again guys.

So you got the cattle trough and Evinrude running... lol. I'll probably be getting one here in the near future. Dad thinks it would do us both some good.

I asked my dad about his electric bill, and during February, when temps regularly were below 0, his electric bill went up 50 or so dollars, and a bit less during warmer months.
 
I priced the tub that Dad wanted today and almost fainted from sticker shock.

Ha! I wish it were that easy. I will try however... I told her about clogging the filter with laundry detergent, and she just rolled her eyes at me! LOL


Hey Hamz.....

Our tub is still on order. I just got finished with the frame around the pad site today. A friend of my Father in law graded the spot yesterday, and today myself and a friend of mine framed it out. Now we just need to fill with some pea gravel to level the grade, put some steel mesh in and we should be ready to pour. I still am waiting on the electrician to call back so I know where to bury the conduit though. Hopefull the tub will be here sometime in June. Hope the pad and electricity are in place by then! LOL

Thanks for the info AC... I hope I am able to keep my electric bill at that level.

Well guys, I have the 6 inch concrete pad in place, the electric in place and now I am awaiting delivery of the tub. It is scheduled to be delivered on Friday afternoon! The hard part will then be waiting the week or so to get the water straight before we can use it! I will post pictures as soon as I have them.

I was hoping! It took much longer than I had expected. We ordered the tub on April 28th and they won't actually have it in their possesion until tomorrow. The tub had to be manufactured in CA and then shipped as a whole unit. That is my guess as to why it took so long to get here. It was also a nightmare finding a concrete person that was willing to take on a job as small as ours. We just got concrete poured last week. I hope it is dry enough for a 4000lb hottub. According to all I have read, concrete has 90% of its strength after the first 7 days of curring. The slab will be almost 9 days old by the time the tub actually gets here. It is also 6 inches thick. I hope that helps as well. It was also very difficult to get an electrcian to call me back as well. We were finally able to get an electrcian out to the house about 2 weeks ago, and we had to add more work to make it worth it for him to even come out. We have also spent the last 3 weeks working on a deck to go along with the tub. In fact we spent the entire Memorial Day weekend working on it. We should finish up this coming weekend. Then we have an arbor to put up around the tub to give us a bit of privacy. Then we are taking the rest of the summer off. We still need to landscape, and I told the wife she gets to head up that project. After the basement last summer, and the deck, hottub, and arbor this summer, I am done! LOL Now like I said earlier, we will have to wait about a week or so before we can actually use the tub, because we need to get the chemicals and the PH right before we can hop in.

It shouldn't take that long for the water.
Just start off with the recommended shock and add a container of PH Buffer and you will be up and going in no time. I just filled mine up last week and was going in 48 hours.

Man I hope I am that lucky. It has taken so long, or so it would seem, for us to get this damn tub, it is going to be hard to keep out.... but like the salesman told us... "take the time to do it right the first time, and you won't ever have to worry about it." Ed I believe you also said something along the same lines. They gave us a starter kit, and it should have enough chemicals to get us through the first month or so. It would really be nice to be able to use it this weekend. I hope all you hottub experts will be online this weekend.... I am sure I am going to have lots of questions.

I have a 55 gallon drum with an old Johnson 40 outboard motor clamped to the rim. As long as I stay clear of the prop, it sure is soothing.
 
Look to see if the kit has a PH Buffer in it.
You just dump it in when you fill the tub and never worry about the PH again.

Yes, actually it does. It says to pour the entire container in when you fill the tub each time. So I guess once you pour this stuff in, it keeps the pH in a certain range? Does it need to be applied weekly, or just when you change your water? Thanks for the info my friend.
