It's has been my understanding that the two most commonly used gear pitches are 32p metric and 32p sae. Am I missing something other than not to mismatch the two?

My example to another party:
54 tooth Fioroni spur gear matched with an Ofna 12 tooth clutch bell.

I was told that I'm wrong and that I need to do some careful research.

Anyone care to enlighten me.

I believe wdavidhicks ran into something about this when he did his .21 upgrade on his maxx. I personally know jack about this, but maybe his info can help you a litte:

1/8 scale vehicles and 1/8 scale clutches are 32 pitch metric.

These two pitches do not mesh.

If you buy a 1/10 scale clutch for a big block engine you'll need a spacer behind the flywheel and your 1/10 32P SAE bells and spurs will work fine.

If you buy a 1/8 scale clutch it bolts right up to the larger mill but you will need an 1/8 scale bell AND a 32P metric spur gear.

good luck,
Rob

Thanks Rob.......................nice sig.
