I'm getting ready to do an old school hot rod paint job on a lexan body in suede with old school pin stripes. It will be flat black, probably with some bright red stripes, all of which will be painted from the outside. There are some body holes that I want to fill, and a few very minor cracks around those holes. I figure since I'm going to be painting it from the outside, and it's going to have that old school suede look so it doesn't have to be perfect, although I will always strive for perfection, that I could do some body work and smooth everything out and then paint it. I've heard shoe goo works good on lexan. Do you guys have any ideas on how to fill the holes. Could I put a patch on the inside, and then smooth the lines over by using shoe goo kinda like bondo or dynaglass?

I would glue a piece of lexan to the underside over the hole and then fill the hole using modeling putty that can be sanded smooth.

You can can also try using shoe goo and smooth it before it sets.

Sweet rob, I didn't know there was such a thing. If you're wondering why I don't just buy a new body, it's because they don't make this body anymore. Instead of using one of my NIP bodies that I'll probably never be able to replace, I figured why not use an old body since I'll be painting it from the outside anyway.

Shoo Goo a scrap piece of lexan on the inside, then fill the holes and cracks with bondo glazing and spot putty. It's what I used to fill the clod holes on my CJ8 body, it works great..

Sweet, I've already got lots of different glaze and putty, and then I wont have to order special hobby putty. Thanks, NCNitro!

I have used a fiber glass weave material to renforce craks in my lexen bodies, It came in a 1" wide role, I would cut a piece to the size I needed then coat it with some CA, crack fixed...

Howdy - here is my 41 Willy's, no bold pinstripes but it is painted from the outside a nice satin black, I thought it would be cool just to throw some reference at ya!

Just got my exhaust the way I want it - it was robbed off a T-Maxx & stuffed under the rear.

Good luck with your project!
