Blue Bird servos???

I was flipping throught the lastest RC Driver mag & came across an ad for blue bird technology servos. Anybody out ther ever heard of or used these servos? They seem to be really cheap & they claim to have high torque & metal gears. ????

I had a chance to play with a few of them a while back.
Ill say; you get what you pay for.

They operated properly and were strong. performance wise they were a bit on the sloppy side and didn't center 100% every time. The operation of the units were not as refined as higher priced units. They seemed to knotchy rather then smooth as they rotated.

Over all, if you can't afford the better servos or don't need / don't know the difference a high quality servo makes, this may be a good unit for you.

imo they dont hold up the vibration and stuff on a rc/car or truck.. there made for planes.. i had one take out three sets of xstals and 2 recievers, befor i figured it out and changed it

I had one quit on me after ½hours use. Took my rx with it as well. I'm steering well clear of them after that.

I've seen one shread it's teeth in about 2 tanks on a savage. It was brand new and man, was that kid ticked off!

I have one as the steering servo in my buggy, and it has lasted several weekends now. Its faster than my Hitec 645, and stronger (drains battery pack quicker though). For 40 bucks, it only has to last 1/3 as long as a high end Airtronics unit to get your moneys worth.

I used these servos for about 1/2 year, and performance wise, they were awesome. That is if you don't mind loud servos. The 620mg was my favorite, awesome for throttle in a /8 buggy. After using these, I bought a Futaba s9350, and I will NEVER go back. Blue Bird servos are good if you need them in a jam, or for replacements. If you are going to buy any, buy like 3 at a time, because you never know what the quality is going to be like. I've had them last for 3 months, and others for about 2 weeks. it depends. IMO, you should save your money for Futaba or Airtronics servos. They will last much longer and have better performance.

KX - You only "get your moneys worth" if they go out settin' on the shelf when you got time and replacements. If they go out when I'm trying to use them...well, they aint worth poop!!!

There is a thread on these in the radio gear form. I had one and it deid after a few tanks. Not very good imo
