I just found out today that my piston and sleeve are gone. Its a 2.5 and i was wondering if i should get a new piston and sleeve or buy a brand new engine. which would be the better buy and which would be better for me in the long run? If I'm going to get a new engine I'm going to get the orion wasp unles yall know of a better engine for the money.Just wanted yalls openion thanks. :smoke: :hammer: :arrr:

You might want to try having it pinched. I think it's only about 9 - 12 bucks by a guy on E-bay who has an excellent reputation. I think it's osrocket he goes by, but wait for another response here. A lot of the guys here have used him, and I haven't heard of any problems.

If your thinking of getting the orion 18 wasp, don't expect a ton more power.

I have it on my 2wd maxx with 18/72 gearing and still only wheelies when I hit a bump. It's a good running engine and pretty easy to tune (after sealing the carb and backplate thouroughly). It's also pretty cheap.

I've read the new OS 18 is pretty good, but haven't tried it yet myself. It costs more than the orion and the 2.5, but not as much as the sirio 18.

That fantom really looks nice i was drooling over how sexy it was :jk:.I thought it was really nice the pipe they recomended was kinda expensive though so i think ill have to do a search for another one thats cheaper if I'm gonna get it. How would i find out more about this guy that pinches the p/s incase i want to go that rout insted of a new engine. But keep the good advice coming. Thanks.

I know a guy who I race with that had a P/S pinched by osrocket and said it worked great.I also know of another guy who can resize them and has a great reputation for doing so.my brother in law is sending his trx .15 P/S to him to get pinched.here's the link.....

I've emailed him and he says that he can have it checked, pinched and sent back out within a day of recieving it.it costs less than $20 to do also.

Hey I was on horizonhobby and if you scroll down to the bottom of their home page and then click on the attic you can get discounted items that are in damaged boxes or had damaged parts replaced. I just thought that was cool i know ill check it out b/f i buy something new.

Iv been lookin at engines and some of them say they need special breakin fuel then after break in fuel. Say i get one of these engines would i have to do that or could i just break it in w/ the fuel i buy and just stick w/ that the whole time. Like buy blue thunder and break it in w/ that and run it w/ that after break in. Or should i listen to them?

If there is a warrenty that your concerned about and you don't follow their rules, the warrenty will be void...

Otherwise, just use whatever fuel your going to run in it. I typically add a little more oil to my break in fuel to up the % to about 20%. I only do this for the first quart or so.

I have the OS .18 in my Maxx it a good engine but i haventy got 2 tune it and lean it out for some real driven.........I think u should go w/ the OS .18 or go up 2 the OS .21 that is the next engine I'm gettin'................

When I did the 2.5 conversion in my Maxx, I got one quart of Traxxas fuel just for the breakin. If there was something wrong with the new engine, Traxxas would not have honored their warranty. (but that's Traxxas) As soon as the quart was empty, I used my Blue Thunder. Other engines from companies that do not make fuel, can't force you into that situation.
