Ahhh.. the slipper. I wish people would stop referring to it as a clutch. They are not nor are they designed to be used as one. Silly people always creating confusion for new guys.

yeah, i wish the manufacturer, would change how they list it as this would be confusion for new people.. i mean here's a copy from a retailer

Traxxas Slipper Clutch Rebuild Kit Revo/E-Revo/Summit, too me this is where the confusionn starts

rclipner, too bad you live so far away from me
if ya lived near me i would give a slipper set-up

food for thought since its your ( i am assuming) first nitro

buy 2 slipper sets and 1 or 2 clutch set's and a Oring set for the fuel tank, a couple glow plugs and 1 or 2 spur gears
and a fishing tackle box they make great set ups for the small parts

Just my .02 cents many people use differnt set ups but this set up really helped my in the beginning stage of learning nitro's

sounds good, thanks for putting me in the right direction

Add a little blue locktite to the nut when you reassemble the slipper. This will make sure it doesn't come loose and put you back in the same boat.

haha! i know. That's why i've moved over to Rcnitrotalk. Arguements over the dumbest sheet.

And that dude Oompwa is completely correct about the Traxxas instructions. Traxxas does NOT say to tighten the revo magic slipper all the way, then back out, etc, etc...

To the OP, how are your slippers doing. :)

got the slipper in the mail today, now looking at it closer, it looks like the spur gear has a slight "wave" to it when spinning it. is this normal or do u think it was damaged when the slipper shoes blew off and got hung up in it???

Hi rclipner,

No, there should be no wave or wobble to the spur gear. The spur could be damaged or more likely the spur is not seated properly on the 3 hex screws that hold the slipper assembly together. Make sure the spur is seated properly - check distance between the 3 hex screws and the holes in the spur. If it is seated properly, then it could be damaged. Take it off and put in on a level surface and check if it is warped. If it is straight, then you may have to look at the other parts of the slipper "clutch." Here is a blow up of the Revo tranny which may help (I'd save this image to your hard drive for future reference).

Let us know how it turns out.

edit - slippper is in the top right corner of the diagram

new slipper clutch in.....and we're back in it. this was sure a rookie mistake from the openning of the box, but at a $7.50 fix and 1/2 repair.....not too bad. thanks for all the input and responses

haha. Hey, i'm a rookie right there with ya.
Nice job on seeing this thru!
