I recently put on some monster tires and the gearing needs to go down because there is no torgue to get the Maxx movin'. What size Spur and pinion would be recommended to push the big tires? Thank you.

They are 6 inches high and 4 inches wide... whats happening is the the Maxx will only get moving when I give it full throttle. Where as my other almost original tires would move at the touch of the trigger....

Or the friction material is worn, or your clutch shoes are shmoked. Does the clutch bell even spin when you throttle up before WOT?

Check to make sure your slipper isn't slipping as well. What maxx is this? 2.5? 3.3? What gearing do you currently have?

I used to run 18/72 on mine, but that was with normal tires... I believe 20/72 was stock for the 2.5 version. Not sure you can go with any lower gearing. Looks like traxxas has a 16T bell: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJF59&P=7. You have to get smaller 5x8mm bearings to use it though.

What brand/model of tires do you have? Stock tires are 5.75" tall x 3.5" wide. So the ones you have aren't much bigger... check your slipper and clutch as suggested. Sounds like you might have other issues.

I run 18/72 on mine as well. Knowing which model maxx it is will help us help you better. But I agree, it sounds like it could be the clutch, or slipper.

Hi there... thank you for all the input. I have the 2.5R Maxx but I have a .26 Picco in her and the current gearing that I have is 19/72. I was running the 3.3 rims and tires Friday and the truck ran great and today I stuck these swampers on there (6in high x 4in wide) not sure what brand... they have a 19mm hex which I had to get from NewEra. Anyhow, the truck just has no torque from the start which shocked me especially with the .26 in there. Thank you again for all the support.

Definitely sounds like the slipper is too loose for those tires or your clutch shoes are shot.

Or, your stuck in second gear... do you ever hear it shift?
