I'm over at my friends and we had the truck runnin great, until the slipper came a little loose. i tightened her up and off she went..only to sound like it was coming loose again..high pitch over revving. i checked it and it wasn't loose, so i tightened it up a bit..no change. anyone have anyclue whats going on? his little neighbor kids are out having fun watching and i wanna put on a show for them

Is the spur striped, or the clutchbell. Did you check your clutch. Or it could be in the tranny. Many things you need to check to narrow the problem down. Id start with the clutch though.

It was fine untill the slipper came loose once then thats when it satarted

It really sounds like you tightened the crap out of the slipper, and stripped a gear, either in the tranny, or spur. Thats all I can think of. There isnt alot of help we can give on a web site without you kinda tearing into it a little to do some back ground on what you think the problem could be.

Happened to me that damn slippin, and to realise that i chewed-up the spur's pad and all the thread that the pad was sittin in. Even if tighten the crap out of the spur, wouldn't do anything. Cost me a new spur...hope that helps!!

so that little arange pad actual has a significant say on what happens?

I run all my slippers locked all the way down. But I have heard of the spur melting the center out if left loose. I never have that problem though. I just strip spurs and diffs every now and then!

same thing happened to a few weeks back. basically had to tear the whole truck apart looking at any potential issue. first its best to check the grub screw on the outdrives to make sure they didnt come loose. aside from that check the inside of the clutch bell. make sure its not glazed up.
my issue was a strip tranny gear...60 bucks later for a new tranny. all was better

i took it apart and found the problem immediatly. the spur pad was totally gone.

well, spent a few hours on it last night getting ready to bring it to my uncles and show it off. what do ya know? after about 15 minutes of running, the pad is completely gone ion a never used spur. any clue what I'm doing wrong?

you're supposed to peel it off? i didnt do that before and it worked great until i stripped it

i didnt even know you could peel it off haha

Then you got lucky the first time... unless it was the original spur. They come adhered to the back of the spur in RTR's trucks. Your supposed to peal the back off and stick the pad to the spur.

ahh...got it now...wont make the mistake again. i'm still debating on selling the truck soo..

thanks for the help

Keep it!;)

These savages are great trucks, and I think this would be one of those things that you wish you didn't sell.

I'm having the biggest problem keeping the rear end on my savage. all the screws that hold it on have thread lock, if they go into metal, and the plastic ones are just tightened up. any ideas on whats happening? this is the 2nd time its fallen off on me. today it was in the middle of a wheelie. i know the tranny has some stripped screws, so i make sure they stay tight
