Sell off all the useless bits all three, and combine the rest to bring back AMC. I want an updated Javelin, dangit!

:D

I wouldent mind seeing alot of those old car companies come back. maybe we could start to see style again. I'm tired of seeing wind tunnel cars that all look the same.

If you lined up all of the same style cars from each company, removed all of the stickers and brandnames, and made them all the same color. I promise that 99% of people wouldent be able to tell one from another.

Congress spoke and told them they must submit a plan for approval for what they are going to do with our money. the plan is due Dec. 2

It is a LOAN, not a hand out. The cash is to be paid back.

Think again. Congress wishes to have ownership in the auto-makers. They already said this would not be paid back.

I'm not hip to the details of the current begging but Chrysler did get a loan from the government in the late 70's. They retooled & paid it back 2 years early. So, it's been done before but I doubt they'll manage it again in today's business climate.

Thats the point--they restructured. I don't see how todays auto-makers are going to do it. Congress has asked the Big 3 for a revitalization plan so let's see what they come up with.

Speeding in the rain, fell asleep, clipped a guard rail and spun across 4 lanes before nailing me as I stopped at the top of a driveway and looked to the left. He came from the right. Since there were no skid marks in the rain, the police were only able to estimate his speed by the damage to both cars. Passenger side to passenger side, and both were slammed into the center. Fortunately, no passenger in either car.

Crap does that SUCK! Now can we get back to the topic at hand? Why must we derail even the serious threads? LOL!!!

You mean we had a topic? Again? That's impressive.

Let the big 3 sell their private jets as a way of restructuring, and let the CEOs only have the crap compacts for their company cars. They might learn what real life is like.

There is a lot of blame to go around here, the unions, the management, the consumers, and the government. The unions for taking a mlie when hinted at an inch. The management for usless spending and endless vice president positions. The consumers for buying into the large SUVs and gas guzzlers, for actually believing they were safer. And last but by no means least, the government. The government knew that the big three were producing SUVs on truck frames to skirt the CAFE rules yet did nothing to fix it. The management got complaicent (like they have before), that bigger and stronger will always sell. If we are to bail them out, then what about the retail chains that have been hurt by the reccession, what about the mom and pop shops that were struggling to begin with, where does it end? It pains me to see a United States without the names of Ford, General Motors, and Chystler, but maybe if they had pulled their head out of their asses there wouldn't be this situation. Chapter 11 might work, but I think it would just prolong the suffering. Lets face it, they are dead (have been for along time) lets all let them go.
