what is the best way to shut off a t-maxx 3.3
if i pinch the fuel line I'm worried that it will shred the piston bearing.
but if i put my finger over the exhaust it will flood it till it stops and the manual says not to do that.

Pinching the fuel line is the way that I do it and I think that most others here also shut down their rigs. Pinching isnt any different than basically running out of fuel, It simply starves it of fuel for a few seconds and then shuts down.

I forget most of the time to keep an eye on my fuel and by the time I remember, it's usually already empty. Of course the truck is ALWAYS a 100 yards away from me when that happens. :)

Same here lol when i hear it cut out i try to get it back to me as fast as possible lol.

i usually plug the filter neck but you can't do that very well in a t-maxx i linke to just plug the exhaust

LOL...isnt that always the way. Especially when your in a wide open area and it gets that wonderful high speed burst just before shut off. But I have this one neighbor kid that loves to help and get it for me. I repay him by letting take the wheel for a tank or so. saddest part is, he's better at driving it than i am!

I stop the flywheel to shut the mill down. It is an instant off. No flooding or leaning happens. It just stops.

Pinching the fuel line does lean it out, but honestly, is that 2 seconds really going to make much difference to the engine life, considering all the different run in methods, improper after-run and fuel percentages, that a lot of us are guilty of? In the grand scheme of things, no. Personally I use silicone stinger extensions or stinger caps so I can just plug the pipe.
On the bright side you could say that pinching the fuel line is a good way to keep an eye on the LSN setting.

hmm, why do you say that? Does it show if your too lean/rich? You peaked my curiosity. I pinch my line about 1/2 inch or so from the carb entrance, does that make a difference?

If it shuts down straight away she's too lean and if it revs up, like a second or two, then its rich, or perfect. Basically if it shuts straight down........ BAD

ok, well I guess i'm good then cause with a typical shut down, it'll surge for 2-3 seconds and then dies. Correct?

That'll do you just fine. It may be just a little rich but thats better than the other alternative. Unless you're planning to race it and you're happy, then leave it there.
Remember that only applies to the LSN.

Yup, no problem. Learned something new again today, actually 2 things. 1) how to identify a good LSN setting and 2) I'm not as bad at tuning as i thought I was...YAY!
