I just bought a RTR RS4 Evo 3 and was planning on just running the T-15 untill it had no compression but a piece of the glow broke off inside while at WOT and did some severe damage to the top of the piston, I can only imagine the damage that i can't see untill I take it apart. But I was wondering what is the best way to get this thing to hit at least 75mph without two miles of runway? Would a motor swap alone get me there? I was also thinking of doing a big block swap, how hard is that, and what is the ideal big block for that application?

Thanks, Jason

the cheapest way would be to tie it to a car and go down the interstate but i wouldnt do that

i would get the http://www.wolfpackradicals.com/ (i think thats right) bigblock conversion for the rs4 3 and upgade the drive train and install 2 speed with higher gearing

nitro13,

I am not trying to be mean here but why are you trying to hit such an incredable speed with such a budget kit? You should have got ther CEN, it does 73 out of the box. You will have to spend a LOT of money to see speeds like that out of any RS4.

Going that fast will probably mean that you'll be breaking a lot of stuff. It can be done though. A guy I know has a RS4 with a .21 that he says was clocked at 95 mph. He said you can't keep it straight at all. That car collects dust now because he was spending a hundred dollars a week in parts just keeping it running.

There's a RS4 guy on another forum with a Fantom FR 15 and the 37/41 spur gear combo that ran 60 mph. That's pretty fast and probably as fast as you'll get with a reliable car... I'd imagine.

Hey Killerwabbit (funny handle bro) - No dis to you of course but it's exactly that "he says was clocked @ 95 MPH". In all reality he's totally full of chit unless he's got a 3-4 speed custom tranny. It doesn't matter if he had the fastest nitro engine on the planet, you need the gear ratios that a 2-speed tranny just can't provide to hit those kind of insane rc speeds.

Hey Daytona - It would be nice but I'm definitley with Humbolt on this. A custom 3 speed tranny, very high gearing and a mean engine would be your best bet to realize the most top speed from that car but I wouldn't bother spending the money for an RS4.

What .21 is that guy using to hit 95mph? The kit from wolfpack radicals is only $60 and from the sounds of it, it comes with almost everything I need besides a flywheel nut and a shim kit. Is their anyone else on this forum that has done this before? Anything else I need besides a motor and the wolfpack kit? I don't intend to try and hit 75mph so the stock gearing will work fine at first.

Thanks, Jason

I have seen a rs4 video of a car being clocked over 100mph on an airstrip runway so it IS possible but you WILL spend a lot of money getting there, and keeping it together. Have fun and post pics of the project, that is what the hobby is all about for having your own "project".

I have no idea what .21 he had and of course I can't prove it ran 95 mph. This is what he said and he's really not the kind of guy that pulls stuff out of his ass. So I don't know what to tell ya. I never see the guy, and I don't think he's on the net very much, but if given a chance, I'll try and ask him about it and reply back here.

I've seen that video of the Super Nitro RS4 doing 100 mph too. I don't think 100 mph is totally unreasonable, but, of course it's something uncommon and probably not worth the time or effort in most cases.

i would think a good big block and high gearing would get it there easily. just dont expect duribilty out of it

I always thought big blocks were not good for high speed cuz they didnt have the rpms that smaller engines had.

Noop- You can use the high torque of a .21 to gear it very high even though they do not pull that many rpm's, it's all in the trade offs. My only question now is what .21 would best for my project? Some opinions on what mill would be great, and keep the price within reason.

Thanks, Jason

i personally think your not gunna be totally happy with the finalproject. i think your speed addiction is gunna wear off once you crash it once (likely)

Damn, that's mod motor territory. Look into RB Concept engines...also novarossi.

As for losing interest with speed. I've been doing r/c cars for 3 years and all I really do is high speed runs. It never wore off for me.

Daytona at 22psi? Is that a Forward Motion setup?I too have an old 87' Daytona turbo,I'm running a Garret turbo from Majestic Turbo cappable of hitting 24 psi.

I have a Garret running 24 psi with and adjustable waste gate on my Saab.
