which cages is the best. and if you us them them. do you have pic ware they mount.

ps do not what RC Solutions Roll Cage

Hi Cowboy

I suppose pretty much everyone on here seems to be pro- RCSolutions and against anything else...
I have said it before, I don't like them for the price versus use ratio in my case, and apparently there are "knockoffs" out there.
Depending on what you do I would start with a simple T-Maxx Rollcage search on fleabay. If you do not expect it to do wonders and use it within "reason" you won't be disappointed with a 35 dollar rollcage.
The deeper sense of a rollcage to me, is to be a "replacable" item after it has been used and prevented bad damage. IMO it's a waste to put a rollcage on a vehicle that tops more than 1/3rd it's value.

Why don't you want the RCS roll cage? Its sexy!!!

RC solutions probably makes the best and most expensive roll cage. I use the 3 point setup from New Era on my maxx and it works quite well, and is under $50 bucks.

Yeah, I actually had my engine mounts milled down so the head would fit under the cage.

BTW, you asked for the best... Then you are saying you don't want the best now? Make up your mind!

I have to agree with the cowboy on this one, they may be good, but they aren't good looking. I intend to custom build my own for my T-Maxx and my Savage, but that's really just 2 more irons in a crowded fire.

I didn't know that I wanted my truck to look "SEXY" I thought I wanted it to look SICK!!!

I'm pitting panels on insted of a body.

Then RCS isn't what you want. The RCS cage depends on the body to help the truck slide. The cage helps with the initial impact of a bad landing, but for sideways shearing, it depends on the body to allow the truck to slide.

Without a body, almost anything but a dead on roof drop will severely tweak the RCS cage. Granted, it will help in the protection of your engine... but for $150, I could just buy a new engine.

Dirt, 5 foot drop, just hit second gear off the ramp, rear landing with a body... well, a half body:

The way it landed, a full body wouldn't have helped. It was pretty much a dead stick on the tail. The engine would have been fine without the cage.

I prefer to just make roll bars out of steel round bar. Depending on how you make/mount them, they can handle direct impact or dissipate glancing blows as well.
