Just curious. One day I would like to try my hand at flying an RC airplane.
I have used a sim before and did well but I'm sure the real deal is much harder.
What's a good entry-level plane?

I started with a Carbon Cub S2, $299.99 and used a RealFlight 9 sim before buying this plane. I didn't have any problems at all.
I took out the stock electronics and put in my own simply because I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer and couldn't figure out the GPS setup, and I'm sure most will agree. I didn't have the GPS and training mode.
Awesome plane and easy to fly.
Carbon Cub s2

The little Micro planes aka park flyers are a lot of fun to fly but they will take off with a little bit of breeze.
I also thought these were a bit tougher to fly.

Get the biggest most expensive plane you can find, it will cure you of this affliction. 🤣

There are a bunch of good choices out there. A high wing trainer like the cub or apprentice are good choices. Start slow and work your way up. too many people pick their favorite plane and find out a P-51 or F-16 were not the best choice for a beginner.

That promo vid has me just about sold on it when the time comes! Thank you for the suggestion!

Like I mentioned, after using the Realflight sim for awhile, my first flight was flawless without the gps and training mode.
Awesome plane to fly.
This plane is also on the Realflight sim, that's why I bought it.
@Doom! made some good points though.

Don't forget to buy a very cheap, short range radio for your very fast, most expensive plane.
I've been reading that this is an EXCELLENT way to sharpen hunting skills! 😉
When...WHEN the time comes I'll be sure to keep you guys in the loop.
Should be fun/funny!😜

Yes that would be my first step. Getting a good sim to practice with.

@Tunedfrog is right on the money.

A sim is good at teaching you muscle memory, the less you have to think the more fun you will have. Plus you can crash thousands of dollars wirth of aircraft without any pain to your wallet.

The Carbon Cub S2 is an excellent plane, my flying buddies plane of choice, I have almost bought one several times but somehow when I checkout there is another Crawler in my cart instead. 🤣

One of the cool things about the RealFlight systems is my own personal transmitter works with it.
I have the Spekrum Dx6e.
The RealFlight 9 has the exact replica of this transmitter.

I always thought if I were to ever buy a plane that I would start with one of those powered gliders with either the pusher prop or the collapsable nose prop.

Those are cool but you need a lot of room to land.

I got my sim for Helis (which took too much of my time to learn hahaha)
but it had different types of aircraft, including particular models of planes and helis.
I ended up flying the planes for fun after I gave up on the heli's.

I am looking forward to another sim.

I struggle with the Heli's on my sim, I can go up and then down but when I try to go on a distant flight I quickly lose it.
