  1. Bashing
I am looking to buy a new monster truck (either a Savage, or maybe a T-max) and my local store just doesn't do it for me. (They charge like MSRP +50 to 100). Any advice on a store is welcome, and also any advice on what monster to get is welcome too.

I have been using AMain Hobbies for awhile now. They do pretty well. www.carolinasrc.com has some decent prices too, but have a lot on back order.

As far as which truck to get, what will you be doing with it? Bashing? Racing? Both?

Bashing to start, but probley eventually racin it. Just something to play with.

I used to use Tower for everything, then I realized that they ship pretty slow....and are a bit pricier than everyone else. I spent a LOT of money at Tower too though. lol

Carolinasrc.com is great for me...since everything is pretty much overnight shipping ;-)

The more i look the more I'm thinking Revo or Savage. Really Like the revo, is it worth the extra coin?

I love my Revo. It's actually for sale in the For Sale forum ;-) I have no time to bash these days...and we have no Monster Truck class anymore....so it's up for sale.

Tower is great if you work their system. I don't buy anything from them unless I have some sort of discount code. It helps to be a super saver member so you can get free shipping on orders over $150 and better discount codes.

I also like AMain. They also offer discount codes, but not as good as Towers. They do sell Kyosho and Losi which is a plus. Shipping to my door is 1 to 2 days. The only downside is that I have to pay donate money to the the CA welfare system (tax).

Tower and Amainhobbies are my favorite. If you buy from amain alot like me you can will receive store credit and right now I'm at $15.. but i like tower because they have the easy pay so it lets off on my dad a little bit because i dont $500 in a shot so i do payments.. But JMO my lhs is pretty good also, as for the revo, THERE JUST OUT RIGHT AMAZING RTR!!!! IMO

Tower can be very nice with their discounts....I think I bought my Slash for like $125 after discounts and a small gift card from them :-)

For the everyday parts and such...I don't bother with them anymore though, but the EasyPay option they have is pretty nice. I drive XRay stuff now though....so I can't buy parts from Tower anymore for that anyway....even if I wanted to!

Ultimate Hobbies was where I bought my Losi Comp Crawler from.

Great prices and free shipping on orders over $150.

The only downside once again for me is the donation to the CA welfare system.

Even with the tax, the Losi Night Crawler for my son will cost me $305. This is the exactly the same as what I would have to pay if I order from Horizon where I have a 10% off coupon.

Needless to say I will order it from Ultimate when the time comes.

Thanks for posting about them SMaxxin. I had forgotten the name of where I got my LCC and wanted to check their pricing on the LNC before I order.

Ok. Thanks. I'm still in the research faze so it might be a while.

I went to the local store today and looked at the Losi, the savage4.3, and the Revo3.3 I like the revo if I was going race alot, and they have a class I just found out. But the Savage looks sooo cool.

Which of the 2 RTR's has the best aftermarcket following? If I wanted to upgrade what needs to be done to each? Not talking top tear racing just fun and bashing.

The Savage and the T-Maxx both have very very large aftermarket following. Its really a tough call to say who has more in my opinion

I got a savage X a little while ago & love it. My friends are pretty impressed with the beating it takes.

Also, Amainhobbies has served me well over the last years for a lot of things.

If your looking to build a bling king the Savage, Revo, and Maxx have just about anything you can think of, for a solid truck all of the trucks mentioned above have a good aftermarket base.

You should find out when your local track races mt's and go watch, talk to the racers, these are the people that you would be running with so get some ideas from them find out what works at that track.

I went ahead and placed an order Thursday night Oct. 8. with Amain. One week later "tracking" reports my package is in Hodgkins Illinois, right now. Tower is in Champaign Illinois; near Hodgkins IDK, but.......Tower, geographically, can get it to me one week faster than Amain, way out there in California.( I feel sorry for those on the east coast.)

These are the fun facts you won't hear about on Late Night with David Letterman.

Too bad Tower doesn't deal with Losi.

Wow Tombomb, I'm kind of surprised to hear that, are you sure the item you wanted was in stock ?

I'm just asking because I live in Michigan, and if I order something on Monday, I typically have it at my door by Thursday.

If I do Saturday, it comes in Tues, or Wed.

This was my first time order with them (Amain), so they probably checked my credit and so forth,. but everything was in stock at Amain. On Monday, the 12th, I got an e-mail it was on the way. The tracking states I get it on the 19th, still...I appreciate your confidence in them. I won't give up on 'em. Next time It'll be faster. Oh, I even paid for shipping, opting out super saver shipping because they warned it may take longer to arrive.

I like Amain better than Horizon Hobby. I just pop the Losa# into search at Amain and I get a direct hit. At Horizon Hobby, when I pop in a Losa#, such as even for a A6262 (a simple 8-32x1/2 screw) their search engine can't pop onto it, even though I know they have them!
