well like i stated in my introduction forum i have a savage 25 and i have an OS 30VG on the way.. what would be the best gearing for speed with the engine.. i have a 3 speed tranny and I'm currently running robinson racing 48t/16t spur gear and clutch bell.. but will this gearing make me slower and have more torque or will it be faster... robinson racing offers a 52t/14t combo and they also offer an 18t clutchbell. which would be the best combo for speed. i probably dont need to get any more torque since the engine is ment to be a torquer and the 3 speed offers 10% more torque and 10% more top speed. i just need to figure out which spur gear combo is best... what I'm thinking about doing is buying the 52t/14t combo and the 18t clutchbell to have the whole searies or RRP clutch & spur stuff. then mix and match to find out which one has the most top speed but I'm just wondering what a good starting point would be... probably the biggest clutchbell and smallest spur that would make sense to me but i dont know that much about gearing... if anybody can help me i would greatly appriciate it.

for top speed you want bigger cb and or smaller spur. changeing ether one will have an effect. also the opposite is true smaller cb and or bigger spur = less speed and more takeoff.

hopefully someone with this mill will chime in and let us know what combo there running.

I have the 4.6 in my Savage geared 17/49 and it still have a hard time not lifting the front coming out of a turn, take off is not even attempted at more than half throttle. IMO try starting with a 18/49 combo for speed.
