I'm looking into getting a on-road and it will be my first! I'm looking in the price range of 300-350$. i want a decantly fast car but handles like no other. Top speed i want around 50. if you could please tell me what my opions are for that price range with the abiltiys i want it to have, it would be great apreciated

Thanks in advance,
Keith

For that price range, hte best I can say is the Team Associated Nitro TC3. Hitting 50mph?!? not in your price range.

Remember, fast is not the only thing that these on-roads do. They are designed to be agile as well as fast. To get top speed, top handeling and top quality, you will need to spend close to a grand. I spent $1200 to get the speed, handling and quality and that was on my Serpent710. You can pretty much plan on spending the same amount for any top racer such as the Mugen MTX-3 Prospec and Kyosho VoneRRR WCE. The price can be lowered but plan to spend at the very least around $800. THAT'S if you go cheap with electronics and engine. only thing is, you won't get anything but the build quality and handeling of the kit. Forget about the speed. It won't be there.

New to touring?
TC3.
Most hobby shops carry parts, and you can get a ready to run (RTR) for about $350.
The're pretty fast out of the box, and handle well.
You'll have to toss the stock rubber tires and get foams for better handling.

Like everyone has mentioned, the NTC3 is the best choice for your range.

Funny how all three of us chimed in within 5 minutes of each other. All 3 of us have an NTC3 or have had one in the past. All three of us have race experience and race with each other. All three of us own 1 of the Higher end cars I mentioned ... Team17 has the MTX-3, Ratzo has the VoneRRR WCE, I have the Serpent710.

NTC3 is the best deal on the block. 50 MPh is not in that range. You will get close to 45 best but I think 35ish is what you are going to see. Get a radar for that. As Diver said, you will have to spend some to get some...speed.

The stock RTR plus did 47 mph..The Factory team did 54 mph with a crap Picco in it.So you know a RB or Nova .12 would fly..Mine does.. The OS .18 TZ would be awesome in it..60 or 65 mph would be in range then..

I had a Nitro 4-Tec that did 58 right out of the box. I clocked it with a GPS unit strapped to it. Didn't handle worth a crap tho.....

If it did 80 MPH it's still Traxxas..Maybe GPS is alittle off.RCCA said the 4-tec they put the radar on barely did 50 mph..And it took the entire radio range to get it there..But I don't think they tested the new one with the 2.5 yet..

thank you all very much for your input i think ill go with the ntc3 becasue nothing else is mentioned.

Thanks again

Keith,
Are you planning on racing this car? If so then yea stick with the .12 size motor cars...BUT if you want a "fun" car to mess with and want to do 50+ mph, then dont waste the money on a .12 size car..they are made to handle very well and not be real fast(the trade off is great handling).....but i have driven many on-road cars with .12-.27 and I'm no racer, i love the speed..for the amount of money your looking to spend you can bust 50 mph easily. I own a Kyosho FW-05T with a .15 motor/2 speed trans. and my buddy has one of those Traxxas Jato's(said to do 55= mph out of the box)...we raced side by side for 100 yrds. 10 times and i kicked his butt every race.
I have driven the new 2.5 Traxxas 4 tec and it will do 60+ mph out of the box, thier site shows one getting clocked at 62+ mph....gear it right and it will be faster.

Also another great option for just street messin is the 1/8 Power Racing XR80(can be turned into the race version XR8 easily)...its got a big block .27 under the hood and is said to do 80+ mph out of the box!!!This will be my next on-roader for sure.

These cars are under $400 RTR and in a "street" race will hold thier own for sure.

but if you plan to race your car in real events, ya better find out what the rules are before purchasing a racer...stricket rules for sure to "even " the playing feild..lol..like NASCAR..i hate roundy-round junk!...run what ya brung i say.

I second the Ntc3. Or else go with a Rs4. Stay away from 4tec's. There total poop boxes. At least mine was.

definitly go with the tc3+ in that range. btw to the guy saying go with something bigger than a .12 car the tc3+ has a .15 in it with a 2-speed. and all you have to do to get it to the 50-ish range is change the gearing.
