Hay guys I'm thinking of getting my 8 year old nephiew a RC for Xmas but I want him to stay with the hobby. If I leave it up to his father he will get a wal-mart special. is the Slash the best bet or would you sugest something else?

Slash is an excellent starter RC that is durable and can be run on both tarmac and dirt.

Keep in mind he will need a charger and battery packs.

Slash is a good vehicle.

Not only does it seem to be bulletproof, but it's easily controlable.

I have a Jaguar controller that I install in cars for my 5 year old, cause I can turn it way down, allowing her to play with any car I have.

......Slash..... tough truck. I let my 6 and 7 year old run it. it's tough as nails and really fun. I sometimes have a hard time handing the controler to them. :hehe:

The Slash is is the only truck I will trust young drivers with. It simple is the toughest RC out there. Plus, you can set it up in "training mode" which only allows half-power til he gets used to it. Lucky nephew!

Well my 8 year old started with the Rustler 6 months ago now he mainly drives a slash and the revo 3.3 now but If I had it to do again it would definately be the slash he beats the snot out of it and it keeps asking for more....

When I was about 8~9 years old, my father bought me a Tamiya Mini Cooper with a Mabuchi 540. Easy to handle, due to FWD. It's not that fast, so it's another good model for kids IMO.

i couldent remember if it was the slash but did you ever see the people drive there slash in the pool

i would say slash all the way

i watched one run WOT with brushless into a poll with the front wheel
all the damage was a bent screw, they can handle a beating

Tamiya Mini Cooper with a Mabuchi 540 sounds right about its has the qualitys of an electric and is a good starter electric tho is the best thing to go for an 8 year old
