I'm thinking about getting one of the two motors but i can't decide. i mostly race so whatever one is best for racing is what il get.

also, what all do i need to get this motor to work on a revo? motor mount?

can you use a shaft start to start these motors?

The OS 21RG is a good solid engine, but it's not good for the revo. You should get an engine that has the LSN adjustment in the throttle barrel. The RG has it on the opposite side which makes it almost impossible to adjust when it's in the truck.

I know nothing about either of these engines but the OS 18TM has GREAT power !! sorry i can't help you more.

I have the XTM 24.7... not the best engine out there, but it runs well, holds a tune, starts easy and oh yeah, flips it on it's lid when I touch the gas! I'm running pretty low gearing though. 15/36 with a 3.3 chassis and a NewEra BB kit. It's a strong running engine though. Any more power would be a waste. It's almost uncontrollable as it is.

Ever consider a Sirio or RB .23? Plenty of power, and they are smaller than the big blocks, for more room on the chassis. Not as much of a "squeeze"

i kind of like the os motors. a couple of buddies own them and have had good luck with them. theyre more in my price range. would a new era bigblock conversion work for a .30 os ?

you seriously do not need a .30 in a revo...the OS .18TM or TZ (whatever that model is) is more than enough for a revo unless you throwing a steel roll cage to weigh it down some.......the RB .23 is insane and keeps the truck lighter than it should be for that power.......it also drops right in and you can (if you want) use the EZ start on it as well as the OS .18TM engine

yea my buddys got the os 18. that rig is bad! i justwant to be different. a.30 would be awsome on a revo.

If you want stupid power get the rb 523. It bolts right in and requires no additional anything. with the bb you need to buy the conversion wich is $35 and the os .30 is 250 with a pullstart. so your looking at $285 to setup the revo with the os .30

you can get the rb 523 for $269. Its a simple decision for me.

AND the RB comes with a tuned pipe......I think Acehobbies had them for around 250...that included the mount/mill/pipe setup

The RB is awsome for power--my opinion is it would be MUCH better than the 30, The best 3 motors these guy's listed

O.S. 18 TZ (insane)
O.S. 18 TM (awsome but not as much power as the TZ)
RB 523 (Wicked awsome power and RB's really rock)
If ya gotthe $$ for the RB that might be my first choice followed by the TZ and the TM is no slouch.

Picked up an RB 523 today....can't wait to get in my race rig...;)

Should be here Tuesday!!!!

You say its for racing, will they allow a .30? Some tracks wont.

A true BIG block is REALLY REALLY not the way to go. As an example.....
I was at the track with the Ofna truggy and i'm an average racer,at best. A guy was there with his Revo and I would say we are about the same as drivers. I was killing him! Around every corner I was passing him. Why? I found out he put a OS V-spec(.21) into his Revo. It would just lift its front wheels when he gassed it around or after the corner.Heck it wheelied almost on demand. NOT the fast way around the track.

I actually have not raced it yet....I will race unlimited.......and you can tweak the diffs to keep em on the ground......I hope. I also run a quick turn in that rig so it turns very efficiently.

I run OS 18tms most of the time in my other revos........and they are great...we will see what the RB has to offer. Perhaps more than I can handle...;)

You can tune only so much! With the RB it will be borderline, a .30 the tq will overwhlem it. It is about getting the power to the ground, then having sooo much power on the ground you can't hook up no matter what traction you did have.

Not saying going to a .30 is a totally bad idea, just that there are other options out there that will make it just as quick around the track.

You might try the Picco .26 Max. Plenty of power and will work with the Traxxas BB conversion kit.

Well The RB TM523 is .23 and it is insanely light..:jet:..comes in a kit with a tuned pipe just for the Revo.....should provide ample power to spare and if I tune the whole chassis right I should be abler to keep it on the ground.......

I will let you guys know how I fair.

Well the break in of the fresh RB 523 is going great, few more days and I will be ready to hit the track. It was not without challenges ....hard to start...even still....... and idle is eluding me....but gets better with each cycle.

It is already starting to pop and show signs of great power to come, so I am excited to take to performance tuning......few more cycles and I will have it.

Stay tuned.
