Gassers are great fun. You just need room to run them. I didn't really have to upgrade anything on my Baja 5b and it's still as tough as nails.

Go with the Savage or the Revo, I have both and I love bashing with them. Also I HIGHLY recommend getting yourself the Motor Saver filter, this will save you a ton of headaches and protect your engine since you will be running in the sand a lot.

Go for the savage more fun and tough, and you can get more parts here in UAE, I also stay in UAE and I had also a savage X. But If you want to join for some racing we had here in Sharjah we always run truggy or buggy for competition, Savage is good for bashing.

If "spares" for a revo are too expensive, then spares for a savage will be and definitely 1/5 scale will be way out of your league too.

The revo is one of the cheapest to get parts for off ebay. Diffs are cheap, axles are cheap, pretty much everything for a revo is cheaper than a savage.

Throw some RPM arms and a rear wing on a revo and you should be pretty good to go for a while short of smacking a brick wall.

1/5 scale stuff is really pricey in comparison. I just sold my 5B and I have a revo and a savage.

+1 on this

I got 3 largrscales and I assure you parts cost way more for them !

But is gas too advanced for a beginner?

gas is less advanced that nitro, nitro will need tuning a lot more than the gasser. Nitro is 20-40 dollars a gallon depending on where you live, vs 3-4 dollars a gallon for regular 93 octane from a gas station.

th 1/5 scale runs on mixed gas like a weed eater or chainsaw, they are alot larger and IMO easier to work on.

Thx alot to all of u guys. I've decided to purchase the revo. (Got impressed by the telemetry sensors lol)

Dude, I've had all of them. The Savage is the strongest, the Revo will do wheelies all the way down the street, and gas trucks are gas and go. A nitro is usually a fight but I still have my 3.3 Revo and it is great. You can't run a Revo in loose sand because the sand will remove the teeth on your clutch gear. (you need enclosed gears). If you can afford to do so, I think you should get a gas truck or buggy with a 30.5 engine. The thing about gas is they are big and you need a lot of room to run it. You can spend $$$ and get a HPI or you can get a Rovan brand truck or buggy for < $600 . It's the same truck for a lot less. If you buy HPI, it holds it's value and if you change your mind, you can get more money back out of it. Nitro fuel is very expensive wherever you get it. Gas is $4 a gallon.

So revo can't be run on loose sand? Thx. I was this close to purchasing it. Can I get 1/8th scale gas trucks? And what about the savage. Is it good on loose sand?

The Savage is no better than the Revo in the sand. I have an original 5309 Revo that I ran in the sand all the time with no real problems. Just be sure to clean it well after you're through for the day.

Plus the shocks are up on the chassis so the are less likely to be blasted by sand.
