If you don't have any RC Car experience then I would start out with a kit. After you gain experience with how everything goes together, then you can experiment with a custom build project. Most people will borrow parts from other classes to mix match and create something different.

Arguably the most notorious builder I know is TheJANG who did the Shapeshifter Project where he has dozens of videos on his channel going into great detail on all the variants where he introduced many classes long before Traxxas made them available:


Now let's discuss the brushed 775 motor you're looking at, it's a 4267 can with a 5mm shaft which is suitable for a 1/8 Monster Truck, however most folks are running brushless electronics in 1/8 platforms.

That said, if you insist on running that brushed 775, it can be done on this ESC here with 4S:
