What Buggy is good for a Beginner? I never owned a Nitro RC before. I'm looking for a kit not RTR.

What is your price range? The Ofna Hyper 7 rtr would be a very good choice. But as Ratzo mentioned in another of your threads see what parts your local hobby shop stocks, that may help you decide.

I'm actually really interested in the OFNA Hyper 8 Pro Kit. I'm going to buy that one for sure. What sites sell it that accepts PayPal? Is the Picco .28 Big Block Engine good for this buggy? If not, what motor is good? I want speed!!!
I prefer a Pull Start motor.

Picco .28 will give you all that you need and then some.
My friend has one in his ST-R truggy and he pulls wheelies.

I believe rushrc excepts paypal but I could be wrong.

I was thinking the exact same thing Ultegra.

Decide on a budget, and if you want something to just bash around, or something that will be race worthy. Also decide if you want an RTR or a kit, THEN use the search function and you will find these types of discussions in great detail, THEN if you still have questions then ask us.

you guys are right. But i think that I can handle it. I really want a Kit like RatzoRC said so that I can know how things in the car work. I just need some info. I decided to get the OFNA Hyper 8 Pro Kit with the Picco .28 engine. What else do I need for the buggy for it to run? I need every part because I have no clue.

You will need servos, a good radio and an exhaust pipe.
Do a SEARCH for these items in the 1/8th scale buggy forum, and you'll get an idea of what everyone is using.. There are alot of choices, that really come down to personal preference. As far as pipes, they tend to range according to the type of track you will be running on, Short & tight or Long & open...

Are you planning on doing any racing with it? If so a .28 is not allowed. So if you are even considering racing you might want to think about a good .21 rather than a .28

Nah no racing. I'm going to take it to the park and ride it on grass and dirt. Imma use it for fun.

imo, you would be better off with something like a truggy or savage kit over a buggy. for what you say your going to do with it.

a truggy has some big a$$ wheels. I dont like that.

just remember with a kit you will be buying ..a engine, clutch, pipe, servo's, radio /receiver, & sometimes tires ....your looking at $400 - $500 over what the kit costs..

then for any nitro. you will need...glow igniter + charger $20+, couple spare glow plugs $13, nitro fuel $25 - $30 a gallon, & you should buy a receiver hump pack $25, & maybe a failsafe $20

not saying you should or shouldnt buy a kit....just trying to give you all the facts

I agree! I have the Hyper 7 PCR with the .21 Hyper 8-port and while she has plenty of giddy-up, she doesn't run good at all in the grass! I'd suggest, at a minimum, a truggy.

As for being new to nitro, in my opinion, the Hyper 8 would not be considered a beginner buggy anyway. I strongly suggest looking into something else, even a RTR, to at least acclimate yourself to the hobby. I know you want to build it, and I applaud that, but you can always take the RTR apart and build it back! I do anyway before I even run them!

I know I'm going to be spending around $900-$1000 but all I need first is the buggy and I can get the kit that I want for $460 shipped at towerhobbies.com and I can save up money for the rest of the parts. I'm not in a hurry.

I have an RD LOGICS SHO buggy, I dont know if your interested...

Nah, I'm buying mine at towerhobbies.com

I was reading at towerhobbies.com what engine I need for the buggy and it says .21 - .28 cu in (3.4 - 4.6cc) rear exhaust with pilot shaft. What kind of motor is that? I'm looking for a .28 motor. Also, can I use the Futaba 2pl Transmitter for the OFNA Hyper 8?
