on any engine the only time u are too rich is when u flood the engine

being too rich is not a bad thing

and also the finger thing is just a bad thing to do it doesn't give u an accurate temp

i am goin 2 stick w/ my finger becasue it is work great 4 ME. If i ever blow a engine due 2 my finger i will come back 2 this site and tell everbody that my new method blew up in my face. That is the only way man learned.......experiments...

An ACCURATE temp read is the only SURE way of knowing you have it all right.
I made some changes on my exhaust system and spent some time today retuning it to run with the different pipe setup. Finally got it running great, watching a good trail of smoke, and brought it around to lean it a bit. Well, 305. NOT good. When it sounds right, runs right and looks right, it might still be wrong.

But 305 is not horrible for the 2.5 engine.
As long as it doesn't over heat or shut down, and you see smoke from the stinger, you should be good.
It's most of the big blocks that you don't want to see that hot. Not all but most.

You might have a point Ratzo. What I didn't consider was that today was over 90 with brutal humidity. However, 50 degrees higher than what it used to run at is not what I want. I didn't finish getting it set right because it got dark.

I would seriously thank about getting a temp gun, as I have burn't myself a few times on my cars accidentley, I can't imagine constantly doing it all day while running my cars, just make sure you get an accurate one the first one I got would give me really high temps and then just say high which meant it was over 420 which I found out was really wrong.

I've used the Raytek for over 2 years, now. $89 and accurate. Still on the original battery.

is that a laser or infa-red based gun?

If you can touch it with a finger and have LEDs light up on your finger nail that gives you an actual number in degrees, then I'd say keep doing it that way.

the finger temp gun mod... reserved olny for the most dedicated men of nitro.

Excellent thought ImBroken. Not only is the tongue more sensitive to temperature, but you can count the seconds it sizzles, also. I'll have to try that.

rolex, I have read alot of your posts and i have to say you are one funny man, keep it up!

Thanks, Mr Burns.
Seriously though, life's too serious to be taken seriously. Anyway, if I fail as a comedian, people won't be laughing at me.
