I was Tunning my 18 2day semmed like good weather down hear. It took a while 2 start well 20-min. but it was all worth it. I luved tunning it 2day. I started w/ the HSN (didnt finish it) then i plan 2 move 2 the LSN then the idle. If the truck runs out of gas it is very hard 2 start up. y ??? i was thinkin' bout change the LSN cause the truck is very hard 2 start but i wanna tune it from the HSN to LSN to Idle. Should i go ahead and lean the LSN out alil' casue the take off aint bad but there is room for improvement.

The most beautiful thing that was goin' on 2 daw was toward the end when the HSP was starting 2 get leanned out a beautiful puff of white'ish smoke came from my stinger exhaust when i hit that second gear. i dont kno if that is good or bad but it looked so tight.....

I was on Cloud 9....... :smoke:

I would be careful trying to get more performance when you really could be damaging the engine. If you do not have a Temp Gun then you would have to rely on the amount of smoke that exits the exhaust. I like to use the temp gun alongside the other tuning parts like I said the amount of smoke that comes of the stinger. The performance, Pinch test etc...

And yes please try to improve on typing as your post was a bit difficult to read. This will allow more people to help you on the forum.

if you richen it up a bit you can always get a puff of smoke,as for cloud 9 you sure are a easy pleazer

Based on the way the post was written, I think the cloud 9 feeling was due to a different "puff of smoke"

i am a easy pleases when it somes 2 RC's and jon2, i knew the engine wasn't that lean casue i kno who 2 look at the exhaust , i also have a temp gun but i left it inside so i used my fingers instead. An sry bout' the typein' i was in a rush.....

i kno ho 2 use a temp gun but my friend (mechanic @ the LHS) tought me how,but it takes a long time 2 learn...

how does it take a long time to learn how to use a temp gun?? you just point it at the glowplug and press the button...

I'm talkin' bout the way i learned how 2 do it. W/ my finger...

Sry 4 the confusion.

If it took you 20 minutes to get it running, it sounds like you have some more learning to do... What 18 is it and what is it on? Knowing this may help with some of the questions you asked.

This may have to go to the FFA, and I know Torque is new and all but damn!!!! His typing/english skills suck!!! I mean it looks like he is a good 'ole bot from Florida, but brush up on your writing ability, keep a dictionary handy, and above all means post something that has meaning!

I do not agree.
We don't know what kind of spelling issues Torque has.
He may be trying his best.
I suggest you guy's lay off.
It's not nice.

And why would this go to the FFA???
For bad spelling?

Thankz Ratzo 4 standing up 4 me, but for now on i will proof-read what i type.

I hope that settles all the up-war about my bad typen'.

Back to the finger test.
You put your finger on the head, and if it burns like hell, it's running right.
If it burns like hell and forms an immediate blister, it's a little hotter than it should be.
If it burns like hell, forms an immediate blister and the blister boils and explodes, you're way too lean.
You can only do a temp test this way 10 times in one day, then you can do it again a week later when the bandages are removed.

Temp gun works best for me for 29 bucks.
Go through that in bandaids in a week.

Funny rolex but I'm afraid u are wrong.......I see how the trucks running and listen 2 the exhaust. Then i put my index finger on the coolin head. As u do different runs @ different speed and also at idle. But as u first start 2 tune the engine u must start w/ this finger thing 2 get used 2 the different temps. and tell if is is 2 hot or runnin' a lil 2 rich. About the temp guns. I found out that engine can run real high temps. and not cut-out.My friend has a O.S 21 that ran in the 295-305 once but didnt cut-out on him and still he runs that same engine w/ no problem (i think the 5 gallon). Dont get me wrong temp. guns are a very good thing but I'm tryin' 2 perfect my weird system of tunning...
