on the new t-maxx 4907 a receiver hump back cell is sold separately it puts out 1100 mah, can i just use rechargeable AA's and get the same results, has anyone tried this?

I'm using Rayovac Alkalines. Granted, I've probably only got about 1-2 hours on them.

You use the term "puts out" when you are referring to the mah rating of the battery pack. Think of mah as as a fuel tank. The larger the number the longer it will last. What that hump "puts out" is 6 volts. The problem with using AA rechargable batteries is that you're only gonna get 4 batteries in the compartment and that will only yield you 4.8 volts, significantly less power to steer and brake. The rechargable hump pack is a 5-cell battery pack.

Or you can get one of these:

5 cell NiMH AA pack. Lots of "tank" (2600mah) and 6V's.

I used to make my own that way and it's what I currently run in my savage and jato. I can run all day long without breaking a sweat.

Not 100% sure if it will work on the newer maxx's though. On the older maxx's, it replaces the entire battery box.

Costs a little more, but has a "gauge" on it to tell you the juice in the pack:

Or you can just get a typical 2/3A hump pack, pretty sure they fit in the battery box:
