I guess you got these in a regular store, and not a hobby shop. They will work, but not for long. It would be okay to use them in the radio since you get a blinking light when they run low, but unless you have a battery monitor installed in the car to alert you to low batts, I wouldn't use them there for more than 3 or 4 tanks. Servos draw way more power than the radio.

I prefer NiMH rechargables for most conditions. I run a NiCad pack in the winter though as they loose less of their power due to the cold.

There are alkiline rechargables, but I'd suggest going with NiMH batteries. The only problem with running them in a truck is that servo's/receivers work best at 6 volts but most packs that are made for AA's sized batteries only hold 4. Rechargable batteries are 1.2volts per cell where as normal alkilines are rated at 1.5 volts per cell. So, using a 4 cell pack with rechargables will give you 4.8-5.1 volts and a 4 cell pack with alkilines give you 6.0-6.4 volts for a 4 cell pack.

I make my own receiver packs out of 5 rechargable AA's. Nothing like having a 2100 Mah receiver pack...
