Hey RCNT.

I just realized that the charger I bought had only a charging option and no discharging option. My packs must be real bad. Is there something out there that only discharges battery packs? The only one I found were for the home-made packs so you discharge them before you make them. Would it be better to just sell the one I have and buy one that has both features?

EDIT: ROFL. I just realized I spelled Battery wrong in the title.

When I used NiMH race packs, I used a Deans discharger with black box for the initial discharge. No info on the black box, but it is a voltage cutoff.

I then uses a Tekin Battery Doctor to further discharge and equalize the cells.

Unless you use the batts for racing, the Deans discharger is all you really need. You can actually make one yourself using automotive bulbs.

i used the novak ionic D charger/discharger. It was a very solid charger for nimh and nicd

So for the Deans discharger, all I have to do is plug in my battery pack? How will I know when it is done discharging?

EDIT: Never mind. When the lights die out. Duh. But how would I go about making one? Would it be cheaper?

I might have an old one like that, I'm pretty sure I have one, and I would let you have it if you just pay the shipping.
