I truly didn't want to start a separate thread for my SCX30, but I know I'll have too many pictures to post in someone else's thread, so I'm just going to post my entire experience here 😂
Mine finally arrived yesterday OMG it's tiny..!! how can this thing be any good I asked myself.?

Only thing I've done to the truck so far is paint the headlight and tail light buckets chrome (lights are now brighter) also painted inner lamps amber..
My SCX30 life so far.. 😎

Earlier that day I received my supplies to make the now infamous aluminium tape and cloth rock course..
My rock cloth course took me 2hrs and 10 minutes to complete from start to finish, and trust me my knees, legs and back are all suffering..😂😂
It's roughly 1.5m x 2.2m, (5'x 7' ish for my friends across the pond) I used 100mm (4") tape and it took almost two rolls, the rolls are 45m long.

and so it begins....

As you'll soon see I didn't use the usual drop cloth everybody uses, I stumbled on a video the other day where they used a photo studio backdrop, and OMG I'm so glad I went this route because it blew me away how good it looked once setup.!!

Very cool! And fantastic pics 😉 I literally just got home from the local hobby shop and almost picked up the black C10 SCX30...almost, I stayed strong and resisted. I need to finish a couple other projects first, and I am sure I'll pick one up sooner or later.
Your adventure is getting off to a great start!

Couple of pics,
Headlight chrome surrounds (awful pic 😂) amber marker lights, shock lengths eye to eye and full length.

I read somewhere the other day that the K10 has shock travel limiters on the shock shafts, I took a look at mine and yes it has limiters, I'd say they are about 4-5mm long, so I removed them 😎 truck has more flex instantly (sorry no before and after pics)

Question..
For all of you that have a SCX30, do you have a best shock mount position you prefer.??
I'm curious if moving the position does really actually help on such a small rig..

I feel that.

Looking at this thread again makes it harder.

I had a teal one on order and I backed out.
As I said to the LHS, I am going to leave these for the new comers and little kids (lots have showed up at M.H.C.C post XMas).
Last Thursday I went to the crawl center and one of the comp guys had two with about 500 bucks into them. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Sounded like dental surgery tools with wheels 😂

I guess comp days have gotten longer with two new classes lol

As much fun as they can be, that's why I don't go anymore.
6 hours watching, 6 minutes driving, and that's with only 4 classes.

Its true. It's more about hanging out.
Personally I find it boring unless I am competing now.

Being out in nature is different, but at the indoor center, once I am done testing something I did for tuning I'm basically done.

@BashingBrian

I find on the tiny trucks small changes can be dramatic. Move them around and run it to see if you can feel the difference. 🙂

So, I wanted to make a scale rope bridge for the SCX30, I saw someone on here doing something like this and I decided to give it a go..
Bought a packet of 100 (Amazon), 30cm x 7mm birch wooden dowels..

I had an idea but just needed to find the correct tool for the job..!!
Here's the correct tool, we'll call him Mr Grindy Ripper for the sake of this project..😂

So let the dowel to log conversion begin...

IMG_5119.webp

Halfway through my dowel to log conversion Mr Grindy ripper decided to play with my fingers.. 😂😂

Project not complete yet as currently I'm waiting on a new switch for my drill as it blew up during the process of converting 100 logs..
For now here's one semi complete scale log..!!

Do they look about the right size.??

I'll post more progress once I'm back on the project..:thumbs-up:
