I figured I'd just start one thread like I did with my Pede, instead of making a new one every time I do something. I'm still upgrading known weak areas in my Baja, in prep for the motor build that will be coming hopefully this summer.

Here's the latest

Killer RC suspension limit cables
Killer RC braided steel pull start
Hostile Racing grey axle boots (so I can use my own brand of grease, I ripped a stocker)
RPM front bumper
Darksoul Racing toobz drive cup re-enforcemen
HPI pinion gear heatsink

And I'm really happy with this. I bit the bullet and got the entire Vertigo Racing clutch setup. Billet enclosed vented cover with ceramic ABEC bearing, and their hex drive vented clutch bell setup (no more pinion bolt). I beat on the car hard today for two tanks, no issues, and my clutch housing and bell were nice n clean when I was done.

It's slowly looking a bit different. The RPM bumper, and limit cables saved me a couple times today, and they're both cheap. I also have a gallon on my Hostile MX's, and I can't see any noticeable wear running in grass / dirt.

I'm really surprised at how much abuse the stock arms and whatnot can take. I had a few nasty high speed/high impact one armed landings yesterday and expected it to have something broken... Still tip top! I even hit a damn tree with it! lol

Pretty sure if I hadn't made shock limiters, I'd have at least one busted shock. Especially after a few of the horrible cartwheel landings yesterday.

Thanks guys, she's coming along!

Really like that clutch set up.

Thanks, I'm really happy I did it hamz. I had less than a gallon on the stock setup when I tore it down, and could see uneven wear on the pinion, which is a sign the stock plastic carrier was flexing under load. Two full tanks yesterday, and the new pinion has a nice even pattern on it, and you can now hear the tell-tale whine of perfectly meshed straight cut gears.

Yeah, I will get a set of RPM arms for when mine break, but I couldn't agree more. Not to mention, I'd much rather replace a cheap plastic arm. After breaking the shock shaft, I had one of the same hits yesterday (upside down hit the top of the tire slamming the arm to full extension), and it was fine with the Killer cables. Hit the RPM bumper hard enough to spring all the way back around full front flip onto the wheels, and again it was fine. Both are good cheap insurance if you ask me.

I've learned you have approach driving these things totally different than any of my other RC's. Things you might get away with with a 1/10 scale will bite you with a baja, too much weight and inertia behind it. But I like it more, it's the only RC I've driven since buying it.

I've gone totally gas or LiPo/brushless. The Baja is hard to beat for fun/cheap running.
