I will be purchasing an airbrush soon. I read in a previous post that the Paasche VL was highly recomended, how about the Badger 150? Are they basically the same? The VL is $59.95 and the Badger is $69.95 at DixieArt.com. What would you guys recomend between these two?

Its been a few years since I owned a Badger 150. But I recall it being a good airbrush.

I currently use my Paasche VL for all my lexan body painting needs (I also have a couple Iwatas). For 95% of the painted bodies you see, you don't need something that does super fine lines.

The VL is extremely versatile and inexpensive to maintain.

Thanks for the info ApriliaRacer! Are the VL and Badger capable of fine lines? Or are you saying they are over qualified for what I am going to do (paint RC bodies)?

I use a VL for my work and it easily does what I need it to. I can't say I am the most experienced airbrusher here, so I'm sure I don't push it to it's limits. I have never used the 150, but it looks very similar so I think it's just a matter of preference..

Thankyou for your input Candyman!

Think I'll save a few bucks and go with the VL.

The VL has a much bigger body making it much more comfortable for me. The 150 has a body slightly larger then a bigger bodied pen.

Check out the Badger Crescendo(sp?) I think it goes buy the #175-XX. It has a body size close to the VL and has one better feature, the trigger can be angled to the left or right. It makes for a much more natural feel when holding it in your hand.

Anyway you go, make sure it you get the set. VL-set and so on.

i own a badger 155 anthem its a pretty good airbrush because you can do fine detailing and basecoating all wihtout changing a needle! this is one of the most versatile airbrushes i have ever owned and it only sells for $60 at dixie art

The VL is not too much airbrush. I think its just right. It can do fine lines if thats what you need to do.

But most people that paint bodies including myself use masks and don't need to "freehand" fine lines too often.

Practice with it. Play with air pressure and the brush itself. You'll be amazed at how fine a line you can draw with it.

awe man... now i want an air brush too!! i have 2 bodies comin in along with some parma spray can paint... should i hold off until i can get an airbrush in???
