i Have a savage Xl .it has good resopnce and fair speed from mid to top end but my off the line throttle sucks it boggs out realy bad tryed leaning out and richening up low end needle can anyone guide be better thank you
 
Are you sure it's starting out in first gear? The XL comes with a 3 speed doesn't it? You may just be starting in second, or going from 1st to second so fast that a lot of the torque is lost from the lower gear.

I know my 3 speed in mine is a pain to get right. Which reminds me... I'm going to have to readjust again now that it's spring. Taking out my winter engine and putting in my summer engine... man, I hate adjusting that thing.
 
times like these make you guys think of it as a jobby and not a hobby, but a nice summer day bash makes it all worth it!!!
I've never had a 3 speed, but i would say to do what olds said or reset to factory and retune....

ya its starting in 1st i can hear it shift cause third takes forever to hit . wish i could get it tuned better my dads shifts sweet and it super fast can't get mine to even compare ( soon grasshoper soon )
