Well, you can't have a good day every time you go out for a bash. Today was a bad one for me.

So far:

1 Bad Novak XXTra FM Synth RX (90$)
1 Bad Hitec 5645 MG Digi Servo (55$)
1 Bad Hitec 605BB Servo (25$)
1 Bad Venom FailSafe (25$)
Not sure on the battery pack
1 Bad Futaba stock servo

had the xxx-nt out first, blew the steering servo. Time for an upgrade anyhow.

Then, the bad bad thing happened. Had the buggy out, was rocketting around like a mad man, chasing seaguls, laughin my ass off, then........... SPLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I landed up in about 10 inches of water 60 yards away!!!! NOT GOOD! Went down like the titanic.

Immediately, packed up, flew home, took EVERYTHING apart, hit it with a heat gun and am hoping I salvaged something.

The lesson: KNOW YOUR TERRAIN! Walk it first, look around, find the ditches, culverts, water, potholes and any other problem areas. Remember them! Or just dont run there if there are too many.

Today was the first day we hit 60 in months. The cabin fever fogged my thinking.

Ohhh welllllllll................

I've done that.... Dang futaba servo's hold thier own I tell you. But the recievers don't. :D It happens. Just think! Broken parts = time for upgrade :)

Here is a pic of the parts. Cleaned them all with Denatured through an airbrush at about 18psi. This was after drying and wiping down whatever I could as well as putting them under the heat gun. On the way how I had the RX on the dash to dry out.

I still wont test them until tomorrow. I dont want ANY chance of any moisture still being anywhere.

Keep your fingers crossed something still works.

Repaired the futaba, replaced with same. Had 1 left.

Oh...man...Best of wishes. I hope you learned your lesson.DONT CHASE SEA GULLS! And stay away from :spit: I hope your engines okay. Your engine looks lean mean and a fightin' machine!

Jezz! That was a lot of electronic damage in one day. Just hope the RX and the 5645 servo is still fine. The fail safe? it might go, those thing can be sensitive. Let use know how everything go, just hoping everything is fine.:spidey:

you should check out aeroplate this stuff is awsome after ruining a hitec 5945 on my maxx in damp conditions and ruining it i got this stuff and havent had a prob since you pull your servos & rx apart and dip them in it you can even dip fs & rx packs if your hitecs are ruined send em in they fixed 2 for me(5945 water damage/625mg case broke &screw broke in output) no questions or fee :smoke:

Yeah i was thinking about a couple of liquid rubbers/plastics. For now, i have some RTV sealant. I'm going to just do the bottom seal on the servos and the radio box on the buggy itself. The RX is going to get wrapped in foam.

HA - and you talk about me not checking my screws, where'd you do this at...the Ames lot?

Ohh by the way, you better cash that check before I put a stop payment on it.

Ok ok! Ill cash the check on Monday.

Well, the good news is, ALL WORKED except the failsafe. That is definately spent. Sooooo, looks like it wasn't that bad after all. I think the big thing is that I immediately took it into the shop, took everything completely apart and dried it out. So there was some good luck after all.

All back up and running on both vehicles now.

Just need to pickup a new failsafe.

Oh, and Woodie, I did it across from the Hobby shop. There is a school over there.

LOL that sucks but there are some cool jumps by that school... where there building... what kind of failsafe are you going to get?

MPI or Venom. They are both the same as a Futaba. I'm sending the failsafe back as it is faulty anyhow. Twitchy.
