I know that in theory a nitro engine can backfire. I have never seen it or even heard about one doing it, until tonight. I may still be wrong. I was playing around with my newly acquired MGT and out of the blue a POP then it died. I went over to it thinking the worst and with a second POP it fired up again. Both were out the exhaust and both emitted a burst out the exhaust. After that it ran awesome, before like it was way to rich. Any ideas just what it was for sure?

Wish I had it on video. I have never seen anything like it. Love the truck, it is a beast.

It was probably just excess fuel in the exhaust beingnignited by a spark, I've seen it before on my buggy when I first got it. I over primed it and, no joke, I saw a 1/2 inch blue flame out the exhaust. To be honest I didn't care much about whether it damaged the engine- it was awesome! Anyway, it ran fine afterwards, and has been going strong since :)

Never had or seen one backfire, I bet it sure was cool though. :). I would enjoy seeing a 4-5" flame come out the exhaust pipe. Like everyone else has said though it was just unburned fuel igniting. I guess be glad it didn't blow up your exhaust.

It happens sometimes when the engine gets flooded, and or an overly fat tune

The only thing is if you tune it that rich then it probably would not run very well, if at all.

Haven't seen one of these little ones do it yet, but a 1:1 nitro racing motor was AWESOME!!!!!
