Without the items for scale, the truck looks WAY bigger in your other posts! Def a cool little truck!
The detail is even more impressive at that tiny scale! 😍
That's nothing. I made this one years ago 😆

THAT is the plow truck our town bought last year for $136k!!! 😲

That thing is COOL!!!
Tiny!!! Is anything functional? Dump tilt etc???
It LOOKS real!!! AMAZING detail! 😍
It was just a static model for N scale dioramas.

Was used for this one. The trailer that used to be with the semi I made the dumptruck out of was used here as a shed. The gantry was made from styrene I-beam. The concrete pad is actually wood, with cracks carved in it. Dirt is ripped toilet paper mixed with hydrocal plaster and paint.

Fence was an image made in Photoshop and printed on card stock and stained. Then I cut strips of cardstock and glued on there to make the 2x4's. 4x4's were wooded strips I made from basswood sheet.

Tree is twisted wire, white glue mixed with hydrocal to create the bark. Painted and weathered, then flocked with Woodland Scenics flocking.

Thats just nuts! I've never made anything remotely close to that cool!
The tire stack and the compressor are GREAT! That fence and tree BOTH look real!!! The pad and dirt too!
The whole thing is just amazing! ❤️❤️❤️

I have always loved small scale stuff. We also have an Orlandoo Hunter and camper trailer to build. It is 1/32 scale. The camper has like 647,652 LED lights to solder up and install in it 🤪

I'm scared to death to build that one. 10 years ago, bring it on.

I can relate! 😐
I'm pretty sure you'll do a great job anyways! 😎

Well, design number 8 of the rear cab fill. My OCD kicked in. 7 minor adjustments total, then when I went to desgn the bed filler and magnetic mount I noticed the magnets were going to be flush with the top of the bed. And the 8mm magnets were too big to move down without hitting the motor. So had to order some 5mm magnets instead. I want them hidden. The new magnetics should be here Sunday. Also added 3 pockets instead of 2.

Bed filler is done as well. One on the right.

I can still continue without the magnets. It just sucks because I was hoping to get this mount done today to at least hold the body firmly for taking better measurements for other things.

Cab filler is glued. I really hope I don't run into any more unforseen issues with it and have to rip it out. And I hope the magnets fit, but the pockets are .3mm oversize 😉

So today I plan (hope) to finish the bed mount and fuel cell. But I am betting I won't get that far. I have some very tedious cuttoff wheel and file work to do on the bed to test fit the filler piece I just printed. It doesn't need to be as purdy, since the fuel cell will hide the seam between the bed and filler piece.

The top rail of the bed will be so thin I need to glue some supports in to keep from breaking it while doing the detail work. So planning ahead here. Now I am just waiting for glue to dry.

Final design (I hope) of the front filler for the bed.

Fuel cell started. Adding 4 magnets to the holes on top for magnets. This is just going to be a test print to check for interference anywhere. First test piece revealed the motor wires needed a notch. Added an opening for the servo wire to come through here.

I'm in the middle of an Orlandoo Scania semi build. Such tiny, tiny parts. I've stalled out now that i have to paint all the parts and start fiddling with the tiny 1206 LEDs.

I watched a video on the trailer build. Itsnot something I really want to try building. I picture it wadded up into a crumpled ball in my trash can. There's just no way I can wire up all those LED's in it.

Been working on the fuel cell, and OMG is this a tough one. 4th version in, and it still needs a lot of modifications for areas I can't measure. So it's all guesswork, re-design, and reprint. I can forsee at least 10 versions of this one.

Feeling better today, so back to work.

I finally managed to get to a point where I could model in an attachment point to connect all this fuel cell nonsense to the chassis.

I discovered the slots in the fuel cell that the chassis rails fit into need to be deeper. Some quick file work took care of that, but will be addressed in the final model. But everything fits.

All I have left to do is model up the cover and fuel filler pipe for the fuel cell and an attachment point at the front of the fuel cell to attach it to the chassis and design and print a couple braces. Something like this:

First, I need to remodel the front bed filler to remove this section.
Untitled711_20241224004017.webp

Then redo the nerf bars to incorporate a mount. This will also require a slight remodel of the fuel cell to add a slot for the brace to slide into.

It took getting the fuel cell design roughed in to figure out how to attach it. But I think I have a plan now at least.

Running into issues getting everything to line up. The problem child strikes again. Solution will be a little redesign and I'm just going to glue the bed to the cab and be done with all the problems (bsck to my original plan). My plan to make things interesting kinda failed when I realized two screws necessary to dismantle the bed and fuel cell would be inaccessable once the bed is glued in.

But this project has had its turn on the bench and then some. Breydon is here for 9 days, and the Hammer Rey is now top priority. He showed up with a bit of a cold, so hopefully tomorrow we can get the Rey buttoned up.

I'll pick this back up in a few days. But the spraybooth is on another bench, so I'll be gluing the bed on in a bit, then the body is off to paint after that dries and things are prepped. So I'll still be putting some time on this.

More to come.
