hey guys i just bought a axe rossi cobra x1 off a friend of a friend and i was driving it today and whatever i do to it tuningwise it doesn't seem to sound right, the engine heaps of compression but i just can't seem to tune it no matter what i do, could it be the fuel i am using? like i can tune engines but this one is confusing, if any of you guys have it what are your needle settings at? just as a rough idea

any help is much appreciated

oh I'm running 20% nitro 20% oil fuel at the moment, its not the top quality stuff i just bought it cause it was cheap.

It could be the fuel..... Could be the glow plug, Is it the right temperature range for the engine and the nitro content you are using? Does the engine, fuel system have any air leaks? An air leak will make you chase a tune.

It's the fuel, you don't run 87 octane pump gas in a full blown drag engine? Same principle. 30% fuel with 10% oil is the key. Until that pinch relaxes, it will not tune properly. It takes over a gallon to break in one of those engines.
I did not know they made fuel with 20% oil in it for cars, maybe heli's or planes. I would not put that crud in any rc car/truck engine.Byron's Race, Torco, O'Donnell's Race, Sidewinder Pro or Worlds...stick with one of those.

umm the engine is fully broken in according to the guy i got it off it has had nearly 2 gallons through it, i checked the plug in another of my engines and its fine, at my lhs they dont really have much in the range of fuel they have glomax, pro-glow (what i am currently using) , hot stuff which i think is made my nitro x fuels, and helicopter fuels, have you guys used any of these fuels ifso which is the best I'm thinking the hot stuff cause anything at the moment kicks pro glow up the bum, which percentage of oil should i be getting? the only 30% at the lhs is the heli fuel is it safe to use that?

Helicopter fuel is super oily. That is going to cause extra drag on the engine and make it harder to tune. You must have enough oil to lubricate the engine but too much is just messy and gums up the one way bearing ect. I like my oil content between 10%-15%. I prefer closer to 15% oil since I am a basher. But with a high quality fuel I'm fine with 10%.
