Curious if anyone has bought this and what advantages are there compred to the 4.1? Aside from the "bigbore shocks" (puny 12mm) I can't find anything else that makes the kit an upgrade. I've got the T4 with a Novak velocity 5.5 and it rips the carpet track at the LHS. I'm considering a new truck kit (T4.2 or 22T) but not if theres really no gain over the original kit.

I'm looking at the same kit. Actually I'm looking to upgrade my T4. It looks like new suspension setup with gull wing front arms and the big bore shocks and new rear hubs. The vts slipper setup and new bell crank are nice touches too. My T4 works just fine too.....but I am struggling wether or not too upgrade or just buy the new kit.

I like the thought of the 22T as its the "newest technology" in stadium trucks but from what I can tell its just a xxxt with some upgrades. really no difference just like the t4 and 4.2 I never keep anything stock anyway so the steering and suspension on the 4.2, while nice, would have been upgraded to rpm and an aluminum bellcrank anyway. Sounding more andf more like I should just freshen up the ol t4

I'm thinking the same thing. The biggest expense is going to the be to upgrade to the 12mm big bore shock set. That will be a quick hundred bucks. The arms are relatively cheap and the aluminum rear carriers with the oversize bearings will eat up another 50 bucks. I can have the whole new kit for 275.... I don't know. I am going to continue to do the math and see what it all pounds out to be. I really like the VTS clutch but again it is not a necessity. My T4 is the factory team edition so I have most of the aluminum upgrades already too. At this point I have decided that this will be my new project for this season.... I just don't know how deep I will jump into it. I could just upgrade the shocks and arms and be good to go, or I can upgrade the complete front and rear suspension and the clutch... but at that point I would have almost spent enough for a new kit! LOL So many decisions!

Bought a MMP, Koyosho velvets, Eddie bearings, and a new Xtreme aluminum chassis for the T4. These parts will refresh me to the point that no 22T or T4.2 will be able to touch me on the track. $268 total investment for the "refresh". The FT kits will cost that alone without electronics. Seems like a no brainer to me.

That ought to be a right nice setup once it is completed. Any chance you could take a few pics of the new parts before you assemble? I may go that route too.

I'm guessing I'm about a week out as the chassis is make to order but once completed ill be sure to share. Its been a while since I've broken out the airbrush too so I think a couple new bulldog bodies will be added to the list too.

So I went to the LHS Wednesday night to putt around with the MGT and scaler and ended up trading a guy the velvets I bought for my original T4 rebuild for a couple nitro things. I go inside to buy a glowplug and BAM!! I accidentially purchased the 4.2, the new Castle V3 waterproof and a nice Savox 1251. While a majority of this rig is identical I was skeptical about the "bigbore" shocks and the new front suspension. Not any longer!! This this drives on rails!! I still have to finish breaking in the ball diff and get the slipper set right. The initial thoughts are very impressed! The assembly and overall fit and finish is top notch. It looks like AE built a solid performer yet again.

Very nice! I really miss having a local hobby shop nearby! I would love to go in for a glow plug and come out with a 4.2! I'm hoping here in the next few weeks to go ahead and just order one. I was going to just upgrade mine but now after seeing your pics.... I want one! LOL

Did the body come painted? If not you did a dang nice job recreating the look on the box!

Came unpainted. I was kinda lazy and didnt feel like messing around with the liquid mask so I grabbed a roll of painters tape and had fun. I kinda liked the look on the box.

The LHS is about an hour away which isnt too local but only about 10 minutes away from work so its easy enough to grab things.

I'm not particular to 1 brand but will say I have built several kits and was very impressed with the ease of assembly, part fit and finish and overall enjoyment of the assembly process. The shock are an amazing piece of artwork and 1 of the easiest I've had to assemble. would recommend it for anyone lookin for a speedy type ultralight rig.

Most of my rigs are of the Associated brand... my nitro truggy and buggy are Jammin, but everything else is Associated. I have always loved the fit and finish of the kits. I know most of the manufacturers make top notch kits and if you ask 10 people you will get 10 different responses. Kinda like Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge. The last kit I built was the 8.2e buggy and it is so far a great kit and you are right about the shock build.... silky smooth!
