Helllo, I just bought a project stampede which is my first nitro r/c car. I am fairly new to this hobby. This morning I noticed that when I turned the transmittor and the car on that the cars throttle and steering started going crazy. The wheels turned right and left and the throttle moved back and forth. It kept doing this by itself. Turning the steering or pressing the throttle on the transmittor did nothing. Sometimes it would stop moving and at that point the transmittor still would not move anything on the car.

I noticed when I touched the antenna that the spasms started up again. I bent the antenna at a slight angle and the spasms stopped and I was able to now control the car like it should be. I tried moving the antenna around to get it to start freaking out again but I couldn't

Any ideas what may have caused this? Is there a bad wire in the antenna? If so is it possible to replace just the antenna? I see a white wire which comes out of the bottom of the antenna that goes into a box which says futaba on it but it doesn't appear to be able to unplug it from this box without cutting the antenna wire.

It could be a number of different things. First, check the to see that the crystals are properly seated by removing and replacing one crystal at a time (on the receiver and then the transmitter). Next, make sure that the batteries are fully charged. If you are not using a rechargeable receiver pack, that is the first upgrade you should look at. Install new batteries in the transmitter.

If the above does not improve your problems, let us know and we can go further.

Do not screw with that antena wire or you will have a real problem make sure its not running by any power wires or battery pack .

Also check the servo wires for breaks and cuts in the wire or insulation.
