I damn near bought this today but decided better of it. Gonna try the demo version now.

ok, that's quite addictive. hard as hell w/keyboard but still fun. I think I may give it some serious thought actually. Hobbytown here is selling the CD for $90 and the USB adaptor for $40. Besides, 4/5 of my vehicles are on Spektrum so that'll give me a use for my only FM Rx and FM 3PK module when I upgrade the last one.

I was hoping there was an online version of offroad RCs..Heck even electric.Did I Say that?

I woud be interested to try it out.

I just emailed their marketing department and asked if there was either an offroad or combined onroad/offroad version in the works. I'll post here if I hear anything back.

OK, it's official. I'VE TAKEN THE PLUNGE!

Now who's comin' with me?!?!

I'm in! Just need to round up the funds, but since I've had to shelve racing for the season due to picking up a weekend job and the various sports activities my kids are into, I'll take the "breakage funds" and bankroll the Virtual R/C!

awesome bro! I don't even own a touring car but it sure is fun. I got a lot to learn about driving these things though.. phew! I read something on the website about a freeware program you can download that allows two people to race against each other as if they were on a LAN. I gotta look into that some more...

Offroad update: Apparantly an offroad version is planned for this year.. probably gonna hold off untill the holiday season gets closer.

I'm still teetering. HOnestly, the budget is the big issue. I have an HPI tx and rx out of an RTR that I can use. It's just scraping up the $150 for the CD and link. If I can make it happen, I'm all in.

i'm in...
with a new born in the house, getting outside to burn nitro is damn near impossible...

would anyone be interested in a group buy of the software? my local hs still owes me for getting his wife a job. if enough people want to do the group buy, i'll talk to the shop owner and swap out my "truck credit" for software credit....

let me know

sweet, we might have ourselves a little club here.

FYI- Just so you guys know.. the freeware program I was talking about is called Hamachi. Basically, when you use it it tricks the program into thinking that a fellow internet user is on a LAN with you so you can race one another. However, it's not yet possible for more than 2 people to race simultaneously I don't think. I believe it's probably in the works though.

Now I just have to hook up my computer to my living room t.v. That's gonna kick ass on a 42" screen :D

I'd be interested in off-road if and when available. Lessen, do you know anyone with the other game/sim? I'd be interested to hear from someone on how the two compare

You can count me in with your number. :celebrate:

no, I didnt' even know about the other one. Besides, considering I've never run a nitro touring car I'm probably not the best judge of realism.

The only other simulator I've seen that may be worth anything is Duratrax's RealRace G2 http://www.realrace.com/index.html.

Looks like this one has outdoor tracks and can support multiple players via the internet. Tower shows it as being discontinued, but I'm still doing some hunting on other possible outlets. If anyone finds one, please share a price so folks that are interested in starting a winter "virtual" race season can make the decision.

IB - I paid $90 for the disc and $40 for the USB adaptor (to use your own Tx and Rx) at a HobbytownUSA. I'm sure most of us with nice radios will want to use them.. besides, I think the cheesy VRC pistol controller is like $55 so this route is cheaper. The adapter plugs into a USB port, it has two Rx lines which obviously plug into your own spare Rx (no battery needed BTW). Technically you could use the keyboard but 1. that's hard and 2. that wouldn't be a very good simulation.

Honestly, If that Duratrax program is discontinued then VRC is going to be the standard in r/c ground sims. I'm not sayin that just because I've already taken the plunge but it just makes sense. Obviously, there won't be anymore development if they've discontinued it.

Everybody make sure you check out the site before you buy though. I'd hate for somebody to drop the cash and get into something they won't utilize. Obviously offline practice is free but online races are NOT. Buying the disc also get's you 12 months of unlimited online racing. Check the site for costs, I don't recall them offhand.

RealRace G2 is the one I was talking about. I couldn't remember the name of it. I'll say this, it sucked major a**! Mario cart or whatever the hell it is was closer to driving an rc than that thing. Monkey, don't waste your time on the search! Hell it was so freakin bad I felt guilty when I sold it on eBay!

Tell you what. Even though I'm using the generic beginner car with 50% power I'm doing a lot better than the first time I played. I havn't reall been playing much at all but I'm picking it up rather quickly it seems. I couldn't even keep it on the track the first time. I don't have the balls to try a real sim car yet but I'm having fun with the generic car right now. you guys gotta try this!
