I was downloading what I thought was a game from a trusted site, but instead I got a worm of some sort called the "SAcc.exe". I found it in my computer but it wont let me delete it. Anyone know how to do this? I had shut off the comp and came back a few hours later, and automatically when I opened my account, my adware SE started up. Also non of my desktop icons were up but my background was. I'm guessing this is all tied together. I have ran my virus scanner and it picked it up and deleted it, but its still there. Thinking maybe I need some sort of patch? I tried googling it, but had no luck. Can anyone help me out?

I think I found it. If I did it right, it was some butthole company that tags onto you while you surf and tracks you. It was a company called SurfAccuracy, so I had to go to the webpage (I've never been to) and uninstall it. Hopefully that works.. Fuggers..

Let me know if that works for you. I will hit my Knowledge Base to see what we have on it here at work.

Alot of the times, simply going to their site to uninstall it will only uninstall it temporarily. To really root it out, you need to boot into safe mode, and run Spybot and Adaware. The key is to run in SAFE MODE, so it won't load any 'protective layers' (yes, they are THAT sneaky).

Good luck, and I hope ya get rid of it, short of a format.

So far it seems to have worked. Ill be sure to keep ya posted though. Thanks for the help!

There are companies out there that program such trash which is used to track your internet habits then try to serve your pop-ups, pop-unders and all kinds of other junk in hope you'll click and buy their crap.

Thanks woodie!! Ill give it a shot.

Yeah this adware/spyware stuff sucks. I've noticed ALOT less on Firefox than when I was using Internet Explorer. I run Adware SE like every 5 minutes when I'm online..lol..

Thanks again woodie!

Update: Worked like a charm. Thanks Wood!

Andy,

If it's any help this is my setup I use and have not had a single problem with spyware since.

- Norton Anti-Virus Corp Ed
- Ad-aware 1.06 Plus
- Spy-Bot S&D 1.4
- MS Defender (beta)
- Mozilla Firefox
- ALL Windows updates and service packs

In fact using this setup I rarely ever get a pop-up let alone any kind of spyware/adware.

Enjoy!
