My sprint contract is up and i want to go to verizon. Can i get my htc evo 4g to work with verizon. I looked at other cell phone forums and they get way too technical for me to understand. Anyone know if it will work and how i do it. or if it just wont work at all. Thanks

Dont think so. Sprints/att take a SIM card to work, Verizons dont. You would have to buy a new phone through them. Going to them though you should have a good selection of phone for cheap for signing a new contract.

My evo does not have a sim card. Plus I'm trying to not have to sign a new contract.

Verizon is the way to go for sure, but as far as phones go, I don't think there's a bad one available these days. I would shop for battery life before any other feature. I use an old school flip phone because I would destroy anything else.

Ya i want verizon cuz they have the best service but i dont want a new phone. I really like my evo and would like to keep it but not with sprint. Thats y i want to know if i can get it to work for verizon. Plus this way i dont have to sign a contract or get a new phone.

Oh my bad, I thought sprint used SIM cards too.

ATT is way better where I'm at in Idaho. Verizon SUCKED for us so we switched and are glad we did.

Yes the phone would work on Verizon, but the 4G wouldn't. Verizon uses LTE (Long Term Evolution) for its 4G. The earlier Sprint 4G phones use a different 4G type called WiMax which is not compatible with LTE. Even though most of the carriers are rolling out LTE, their phones won't really work on each others' network due to frequency differences in where the companies run their 4G.

In a nutshell: Your phone's voice and 3g should work on Verizon. The 4G won't. If 4G is important then you may want to consider the outright purchase of another phone so you won't have a contract.

FYI-Only AT&T/T-Mobile require SIMS for their phones.

Thank u 4g is not that imortant. But do i need to do a jailbreak or root or whatever to my fone so it will work with verizon?

I think it will need to be rooted, but Verizon should be able to tell you that.

You may have to get Sprint to unlock it. I know AT&T will after you've had your phone for a while, they just don't want people to get the phones for cheap and then jump ship. I'm about to get our phones unlocked so that I can use them in England.

I know that my son has the I phone from Verizon and when he went to Germany for the army they had to unlock it so he could use it on tmoble over there. Verizon isn't over there and they also were good enough to suspend his service here until he gets back.
