nice little cars there....my fav is the nice rear lights on em. What parts are you from? if you're in the US, I hope he got a decent deal on the shipping.

Congrats and enjoy the the nice RHD Mitsu

Import do kick ass for little things. Mitsu???? makes the FTO?

The standard BHP is 204 but this one has induction air filter, superchip and iridium spark plugs bringing the total to around 225hp mark. I'm in wales and my bro bought it from a import dealership for £5000!!! its got a 4 speed tiptronic gear box the only thing going against it is that its FWD but ya can't have everything lol

Heres some more pictures, its got a private plate H* FTO and a front veilside bumper, Its also got some rather nice reverse indiglo dials.....the engine is a 2L MIVEC and it sounds amazin!!!

maybe not by you..but for the most part, japanese domestic models can be imported w/o changing the steering side...its just more expensive and more of a hassle to drive. in my neighborhood there are some older subaru's that are RHD...the only mandatory conversions are safety and emissions...now that may sound simple enough, but its alot of coin especially if the car hasn't been crash tested in the US then you'll have to have that done first which i would say 99.999% of the average joe cannot afford. The Skyline GT-R, when imported to the US (i believe there were 60 or so of them for "Special" clients) were still RHD since nissan believed it wasn't worth the hassle to re-engineer the whole car just to make it like the standard US cars.

another example. when i lived in japan back in 05, my wife and i were looking at getting a Fairlady Z (aka 350Z in the US where it has a balless engine). long story short, even though the car is exported in a similar form (same chassis, different drivetrain) the car was quoted for 31K and another 12k in conversions (glass, side impact bars, etc) but the steering would've stayed on the right side (more comfortable to us lefties btw)

Its a 96 model and has 50,000 miles on the clock, its real clean inside, the interior has just been re-trimmed in leather and fair play considering its been lowered and stiffened up its still a very comfy ride!!

4u2nv,

RHD cars that are imported are legal in the US. The only thing they have to pass is the emissions.

Customs would not allow a car to be imported into the US if it was not approved by DOT. Like has been said above the only thing holding a car back is emmissions.

If a car is imported into the US for testing and has not been approved by dot it is either destroyed or sent back after testing. 99% of the time it is destroyed simply because it is not worth the $ to send it back.
