lots of new different 1/8 buggies out there

The Flying Point buggies and the AX5 have been available here in Europe for over a year now. Nothing special, just entry level RTR stuff out of the Chinese/Taiwanese commission engineering factories.

In typical badge-engineering fashion, the AX-5 is marketed as the SinYih AX-5 or Carson King of Dirt.

The real new stuff was announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany in February 2004. Most of this will be old news in the USA by now but heres a summary of the 1/8th off-road stuff that was at the show:-
  • Bergonzoni R1
  • GS Avenger
  • Hot Bodies Lightning 2
  • Sportwerx Mayhem (why don't Horizon market this as a Team Losi product?)
  • Protech Enigma (looks similar to the PRP Swift to me)
  • Thunder Tiger X-Force
  • XRay XB8
Lots of interest in the XRay announcement, despite no real product or even pictures to see. This will be their first off-road model and the quality of engineering in their on-road products is amazing - not cheap though.

It never fails to amaze me the stuff you guys come up with. Never heard of either buggy, but I'm all about new ones that nobody else is running. Problem is getting parts. I hate searching all over the place for parts that are not in stock.
