Anyone have any words on this transmitter? Will it work with any receiver or do I need a different one?

I have the MX-3 S, the one that works with synthesized receivers. The MX-3 will work with any FM Rx that is on your band (75 or 27) but you will need to match your crystals.

what is a synthesized receiver?

As long as the crystals are the same it will work with my stock RX?

Yes, and if the freq is the same. If you have a 27mhz radio you need a 27 rx.

The crystals are like sub-frequency channels.

Synth Tx's and Rx's do not use crystals. They synthesize the signal instead. Allows the user to pick the frequency instead of having to carry around a bunch of different freq crystals around at the track or bashing spot.

MX-3's RULLLEEEE!!! I've tried about 7-8 radios, and the MX-3 was by far the best. I liked it better then all the JR radios I've tried (xr2, xr3, xs3). And all the other misc radios. The MX-3 has a PERFECT feel to it. I wouldnt trade it for anything else (unless it was like a M8 or something). The functions are soooo easy to use also! On the screen it lists all the functions, and when you turn the radio on, the function you are on lights up. This way, you can toggle through the fuctions you dont want and find the one you DO want as fast as you can click the button. I highly recommending this radio, and have been running it for about 2 years.

On my brothers 3pm, there is NO indication of where you are with the functions. You have to watch, and go slow or you'll miss your function. there is NO BACK BUTTON, It costs more, the functions are impossible to see on the screen, and they pack in the abbreviations so close together that you can't even understand what they are unless you've seen it before (ie, EPA, TRIM, etc). I really hate that radio.

will it work with an AM rx?
this is what I have....

I will have to see if the guy who I might buy it from has the RX too...

thanks for the info Zandor...

It only works with positive shift receivers. That means KoPropo, JR, and Airtronics.

Yeah, it has to be 75mhz. If you can't get the radio without the reciever, dont bother. But if you must, get a Novak XXL reciever. I got 2 of them used for $25 shipped, both in perfect condition, and they work awesome. I actually like them better then the Airtronics Super Micro rx (comes with the mx-3).
