The team from top gear, (might have been on the grand tour or drive tribe), test drove one of these, i think they suggested it was a death trap, funny its not like them to worry about such things
The perspective is interesting. A van that goes 50mph on its best day is a deathtrap but an AWD fiberglass skateboard with a V12 and 10 spd trans, capable of 297 mph... and 0-100 in .8 seconds is just their cup of tea! 🤣
Half of their favorite cars would turn to dust on impact at the speeds they are designed to be driven at. 🤣

I could make a version of Postman Pat’s van, he’s a very gentle character from a UK children’s programme for 5-7 year olds!

I hope the video plays in your region. There are a couple of videos where people have overdubbed scenes with more realistic adult postman like discussions, I quite like the idea of Pat and his Cat racing about.

Just spotted this

I may have found a solution to my van obsession. I do like an older Japanese car.

I used to watch that! I'm on the west coast of the states!

Agreed. I never liked the wing mirrors up on the hood. Whoever thought that was a good idea clearly wasn't near sighted. Plus they just look gawdy out there. But I freakin love that body. Tamiya makes a lot of noce bodies too. But something about that Kyosho one hits me right in the feels.

I had a secondhand Ford Capri from the 1980’s and the previous owner had Ford mirrors added to the wings. I like you wondered whether they would be much use, but as an addition to the more modern door mounted mirrors I found them surprisingly useful as they cover the blind spot.

I thought they looked ok! Acquired taste perhaps?

Here it is/was

I didn't know that about the blind spots. Interesting.

A while ago I ordered a hobbywing easy run motor and ESC set for my experimental tether car, it’s a:

Hobbywing EZRUN MAX8 ESC Combo With 2200kv 4274SL Motor

I wondered whether this would fit a typical 1/10 scale rc car like the Kyosho chassis I identified in the thread above? I could get more use out of it by reusing

That's a 1/8 scale motor, and about the only Kyosho that will use that will be their USA-1 Monster truck, or their 1/8 scale buggies.

Whatever you go with for that motor is going to be 1/8 scale. That combo is a beast too. It would be right at home in a Losi LMT10, an Axial Ryft, 1/8 race buggy/truggy/SCT etc. If you were serious about doing a crazy Wheelie Yellow kinda monstrosity, I'd start out with a 1/8 buggy chassis. That will keep a lot of weight down low.

Just make sure whatever you go with can fit that can size. That is the longer of the 1/8 scale motors, so it will have a ton of torque vs the shorter varieties.

I hope whatever it was, it was tethered with heavy steel chain!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Ah I see, that's a pain, the 1/10 scale chassis seemed about the right size being about 460mm long. I'm guessing its the motor dims that won’t fit?

I’ll check out what options there are at 1/8 scale but i worry that it might turn out to be a bit too bulky.

Have no doubts something will be built!🤪

About a 3mm or 4mm diameter woven steel wire from recollection! Point of note, everyone leaves the perimeter of the track and stand out side the safety fence when i run the car, quite hurtful really like they dont trust my engineering skills 😡

Well, some 10th scale chassis will be able to use 8th scale stuff. You'd just have to do a little research to see if the can will fit.

And yesh, a lot of times the motor mount will have the motor too close to the chassis or other components to go bigger. Sometimes you will find a different motor mount available to use larger motors. It isn't that common though.

36mm can diameter for 1/10 scale is normal for motor.
3652, 52mn being the can length for most buggies and cars
3660, 60mm length is more appropriate for SCT and trucks. The extra mass of the longer rotor provides more torque for these heavier applications.

I'd love to see some videos of your cars running! What a blast!! 😎

Thanks for the advice I will check each model out
