Hello, i am new to this site and also to nitro RC. i am in the market for a 1/8 nitro monster truck, and i was wondering what the best choice would be considering the features of each different truck. I'm open to any suggestions and would appreciate any help and input.

THANKS, SluggoQ

depends on what you want it for. for bashing i hear a lot of talk about the Savage, Revo, and LST ... i have the LST and it is a definite bash proof truck.

thanks for the input.i do want it for bashing but i also want it to b fast. i am leaning more towards the savage 4.6 because it looks a lot more durable and has beefy suspension. so if the savage has a lot of upgrades for the motor to help it even a little i think i might go with it. also my buddy has a revo, and i kinda want to one up him.

I have a Revo and an LST. I love my Revo but I think there are tougher trucks, plus the Revo is a 1/10. With the Savage or LST you get the big block motors, but they also carry more weight. I think the Revo is a decent basher, but I think it was designed with the thought that it was more of a racer.

thats where i am having a problem with deciding.I'm not sure whether to go with the savage or revo.the revo is a lot faster but i like the design of the savage a lot more.so if i can find upgrades for the motor to make it faster or even put the new nitro star K5.9 engine in the savage somewhere down the line, then i would definately go with the savage. thanks for the input.

This would just be my opinion, based on what I've heard about the Savage. I think it's a lot tougher than the Revo and like you said, you can easily slap a bigger motor on it at some point in time. I think that would cheaper than trying to make the Revo as tough as the Savage (as much as it pains me to say that about my precious Revo :hehe:).

lol, you said you an LST, is that truck better for speed or for toughness?

I have the 1st generation LST, now there is the LST2 and a cheaper version - the Aftershock. I think the LST is another in between model, good for both racing and bashing. The Aftershock is a lower priced LST2 that most people here will tell you needs certain things upgraded. But really there is no sense in replacing something until it's broken - IMO. If I had it to do all over again, I think I'd be looking at a Savage.

My freinds had Revos and they are faster out of the box, but they can't bash as hard as a Savage. I don't have one,LST, but from what I've heard they are about as tough as anything out there. I haven't heard anything about speed, but I'm sure if it's not fast enough you can swap a bigger engine in there too.
I would pick something that has the best support at your LHS.

LST = Team Losi

thanks, yeah I've been doing my research for a while and i couldnt decide so i did think when i was finally ready to buy then i would go to the LHS and see what they recommend but then i thought i would see what kind of feedback i get here first, thanks again for your input

i have a revo,tmaxx,and 2 savages. savages are tanks. the revo and maxx are like bottle rockets really fast then pop, time to fix it and do it all over again.

can't comment on the lst from experience but i hear they are pretty tuff too?

if i wasn't such a nitro junkie id buy 1 savage and be happy.

well if you own a savage you are kinda spoiled. you can just bash a savage into the ground and it begs for more.

the revo is a nice truck but i have as much $$$ in my 1 revo as i do both my savages, and its still not as dependable as a savage.

MGT 8.0 is a LOT faster than either Savage or Revo, has bags more torque and is very strong. You dont even need to change the steering servo on purchase.
