It appears to be the standard Marine Corps insignia, normally brass. This one is more than likely a customized version with gold and silver plating and inlays of enamel and jewells. Strictly for display. It wouldn't be allowed on the uniform.

Thanks Rolex, with it being absent of any marks I had assumed it wasn't issued to a certain person, or issued for a uniform but then again I'm so in the dark about military items I had no clue.

Is this something you have, or a photo you just came across? My guess would be that it's pretty worthless, since there are already signs of some of the plating wearing off. I'm sure the stones are worthless. It's way too gaudy looking to be valuable, and no real marine would be caught dead with it.

It's a pin I have. The picture makes it look pretty gaudy(size), but when you hold it in your hand it's pretty classy looking. The whole thing is about 2 inches tall at most..

I like the way it looks in person, but i never though about it, if it were any bigger it would look really out of place.

I didn't realize what it's actual size was. At about 2", it's not a uniform pin, but strictly decorative. I see some of the plating is worn off on the anchor hooks, and it's not brass underneath. That probably means it's just white metal, or what's also called pot metal. An inexpensive zinc alloy.
Any idea where it came from, or is it one of those things that's been kicking around forever with no known history?
If you have no interest in it, try posting it on Ebay. Some old time marine might want it.
