After Sky and I both killed our T-Maxx's we went to the K-Mart parking lot and I ran my RS-4. After about 30 minutes of running and doing donuts I noticed that my brand new tires were shot. Any recommendations on the most durable tires. I am now not caring too much about traction since I have found I can't turn the thing as sharp as I would like anyway with it spinning out so I might as well get some tires that last longer. I mean $25 for 30 minutes of use really sucks!

No help here:( But I would like to know what kind of tires you had on it incase I ever get a street car.

i have herd of people REALLY like the v rage tires that pro-line makes

But are they durable. The stupid schmuck in Hobbytown said the tires I bought were really durable. If they were durable I'd hate to see tires that are not durable.

Hey El - in onroad the key is to run the tires that are appropriate for both the surface and the surface temperature you are running on. Everything I have read tells me that the wrong choice for the time of day you are running can play a big part in tire destruction. These are HIGH speed cars. So if you are doing 50mph and keep sliding, you will QUICKLY eat away the tire. If you choose the right composite for the day then you will have better traction, less slide and hopefully less wear. An untrue tire can be hell just the same.

Once I go through the couple of sets of Gumbies I have, I will be going all foam all the time. Ellegi and proline make some nice foams but I have yet to find a tire I truely LOVE.

Ill see if I can find a tire/density/temp/surface chart for you somewhere.

The conditions were perfect (mid 70s), not too hot/not too cold. The surface was clean with a pile or two of sand K-Mart parkling lot asphalt, just your notmal place to run. What would be a good tire for this?

Here El this should help.

Compound

35R Very hot-weather surfaces, long life span
33R Hot-weather surfaces, long life span
27R Warm-weather surfaces, long life span
23R Cool-weather surfaces, long life span
20R Cold-weather surfaces, long life span

B15-40: Maximum grip, good life span
Pro Compound: High grip, average life span
Super Compound: Good grip, average life span
M-Compound: Average grip, short to average life span

Temperature Table for HPI "R" series tires

Tire Air Temperature..........................Track Surface Temperature
20R - #4750 0 - 10 C (32 - 50 F)...........0 - 15 C (32 - 59 F)
23R - #4751 5 - 20 C (41 - 68 F)...........10 - 30 C (50 - 86 F)
27R - #4752 10 - 25 C (50 - 77 F).........20 - 35 C (68 - 95 F)
33R - #4753 15 - 35 C (59 - 95 F).........25 - 60 C (77 - 140 F)
35R - #4754 20 - 40 C (68 - 104 F).......40 - 70 C (104 - 158 F)

Thank you NCN - that is right along the lines of what I was looking for.

El - see what I mean. Its a science.....

Ok so whats the absolute best durability in all temps and I could care less about traction. I just want something that I can sit and do donuts day in and day out and not see the tread gone in an hour.

doing donuts is the problem! no tire is meant for that, but, maybe hard tires meant for hot weather will help. HPI "d" compound tires that come with hpi rs4-3's are short lived anyway. I have a set of HPI pro compound x-tread tires i have raced on a dozen times and they still look like new (well, almost)

Yeah yeah, but doing donuts is the only way I know it's not going out of radio range as well as it's easier to keep it away from moving full size cars that way too.
